2018 Free Agent

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
I like to think of myself as a utility player lol. I know others think differently. I would have to say that my best position Is 2nd base.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
You know over the years over watching and playing their are so many good players out their. But if I have to choose it would have to be who I grew up watching. That would be Stuey, Eli Aguilar, Ed "kid" Vega, Chente and Mario Granados.

Why do you like the game of softball?
What I like about softball is how competitive it can get. I love the competition on all levels. What I also love about softball is meeting so many great players that quickly turn into family.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Their is a lot of up and comers in softball. For me it would have to be Charlie Hinojosa. Why? Is because he has a great love, great stick, and one of the most humble ball players I have ever met.

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
I have had so many nicknames in softball lol so I won't name them all. But from 2014 on my nickname has been Little League. I got it because in 2014 I played for Chingon in ASA in D's. Well their was a lot of big moments in Nationals and Worlds where I came up clutch on offense and defense. I'am a very small guy but over the years have done some damage to some teams.

What is your height and weight?
Lol love this question but I'am small lol.
5'4 170lbs (Do not let my size fool you)

Where do you call home?
Lakewood, California is where I call home.

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
My favorite way to spend on the off weekend is just chilling at the beach. Grab a cold one, play some tunes, and just relax.

What do you do for a living?
I work at ISM Vape in Huntington Beach

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I played some ball in high school.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I got my start from my pops in the D level. Cannot really remember when I started playing but I know it was D's. I got to the upper level by working on my game, having a better attitude, picking up my teammates no matter the score or errors that are made. And just overall being humble and having respect for the game.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
One career highlight would be me making the final out at D Worlds to make it to the championship game in 2014.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Advice I can give to a young and up coming player is just have respect for the game. Be humble at all times. Win or lose. ALWAYS pick up your teammates. Be leader and just lend a helping hand if you see someone struggling in hitting or fielding. And most importantly listen to others who are still playing at the upper level because they will definitely give better advice then me lol.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
I use the overlap for homers and regular baseball hands for placement hitting. I swing 26oz

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
I continue to work on my game when I can during the off season.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
I have alot of favorite sports teams lol. But one would have to be the New York Yankees. Favorite sport outside of softball would have to be football and basketball

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Favorite non world tournament would have to be Toys4Tots. Why? It's because it's the one time of the year where everyone can relax and have a good time. Plus it is for an amazing cause for kids.

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Best place I have played at would have to be Twin Creeks up in Nor Cal. It is all turf and their Nor Cal Toys4Tots is fun as well.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
Something that most would not know about me is that when I'am on the field and I'am getting in the other teams head that it is not serious. Cause win or lose I will share a beer with anyone. I carry my humbleness on and off the field. Some would say I'am to mean lol. But I do it all in good competitive fun.

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
Best sports related gift I have ever received was my 2nd place National and 2nd place World plaques from D ASA Worlds. Also I received my first ring when I was 18. Pretty much 9 years ago.

People will rag on this guy but at least he had the cajones to post something….

  2. Yard Dog says:

Like the above poster typed, at least the guy has to stones to put his name out there and try to get a chance to play the Big West Major so he can possibly get some looks. Seems like a good kid who wants to get a shot. Not like he’s asking for SIS to pick him up.

  3. Ronnie H says:

Joey is a great dude, loves the game and works hard at it. if you know him or follow him he is always working on his game.

  4. Mac says:

Looking at the team list, there’s really no one to get picked up by Conference-wise…..

  5. Eli15 says:

This kid could play lots of talent
