2015 USSSA Major World Series

Game #5 Recap

Fence Brokers Inc/Buzini/Worth  37

Red's Astros/Louisville Slugger  30

FBI's Alex Henry collects one of his 4 extra base hits

Thursday mornings opener found Red's Astros really starting to get things going in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Phillip Whites grand slam homer led to an 8 run frame and a 12-4 lead over FBI.  In the top of the 3rd inning however Fence Brokers grabbed the momentum as they scored the most runs in an inning in the tournament to that point with 16 runs, the first 12 of which came before the first out!  Brian McBryde had the standout hit of the inning with a big 3 run homer.  In the bottom of the 3rd FBI left fielder Joe Gordon made a diving catch but that wasn't enough to hold back Red's Astros who scored 8 runs – 3 on a Brandon Dillon homer to tied the game at 20-20.  But it was all FBI from there as they scored 14 more in the top of the 5th and Red's could only extend the game once on a Newbill homer and lost by the run rule in 6 innings 37-30.  FBI hit 14 homers in the game including 3 each from Billy Maggard and Alex Henry.
