SoftballCenter.com in 2014!

Happy New Year from SoftballCenter.com!

In the new year I hope to bring you full coverage of the upper level of men's slowpitch softball, something I have tried to do starting back with SoftballKingdom.com in 2008 and every year since.  For those of you who don't know, the Kirby's who started SoftballKingdom.com in 2008 to bring live internet game broadcasts of USSSA Conference and World events, hired me (and gave me the nickname "DW") to report for them in May of 2008.  I reported on around 15 tournaments that year.  In 2009 I struck out on my own reporting with the support of many fans and at the end of 2009 a website (SoftballCenter.com) was built by my friend Dan Pfeffer as a place where the reports and articles could be stored.  I have been reporting from SoftballCenter.com ever since.

My goal over the years has been to bring you at least one article per day about the upper level of softball.  During the 2014 season I will try to bring you the following:

Sunday night / Monday: a picture album of the tournament that I attend.

Monday night / Tuesday: a full report on the tournament including pictures, video clips, final standings, and writing about the tournament and the teams.

Tuesdays: The bracket link for the next weekends upcoming tournament.

Wednesdays: The SoftballCenter.com computer rankings.

Thursdays: A preview of the upcoming weekends tounament.

Friday-Saturday-Sunday: The live chat room will be open to discuss the tournament live with others and will have bracket links and broadcast links (if any).

Coverage will begin with the 2014 GSL Mojo Moneyball tournament in Columbus, Ohio in March.

In April I hope to travel to Conference events in Las Vegas, Houston, and the Hall of Fame Classic.

In May I have penciled in KC, Columbus OH, Texas Legends, and Atlanta.  (Hopefully at least 3 of these 4)

In June I am looking at Seattle, Chicago, Maryland, and Indianapolis (all depending on my daughters travel schedule)

In July the Smoky and Cincinnati.

And then finish up the season with Michigan, USSSA 'A' World, ASA Super, Conference Championships, USSSA 'B' World, USSSA Major, ASA 'A'.

The schedule is subject to change and depends upon travel funds and the continued support of the associations, advertisers, and the directors which I appreciate very much and could not do this without.  I may try to find my way to a few other ASA events or maybe the Pif one of these years as well!

Until the season starts in March you will continue to see player interviews, team rosters and schedules as they become available, and I hope to bring you some more consistent softball history articles, and polling results articles.  I will also be releasing my annual prospect list and pre-season rankings!  You will also see posts about my advertisers for 2014!

Anyone who wants to do a player interview, update their past interview, or know someone who would do an interview, can fill them out on this interview form here

I will also be creating these easy to fill out forms for legends of the game, and managers/sponsors with some different questions.

Note, I upgraded the website about 6 weeks ago and there is now a problem with the video player and articles longer than two pages due to this upgraded version.  These articles which include most of the tournament reports and some of the player pages are not showing any content.  The company that converted my website to WordPress is currently working on the issue and has been trying to figure it out for 3 weeks now.  I will let you know when it is resolved.  This has been very frustrating.

Again, happy new year, and I can't wait to get started, the season is just a few short months away.

P.S. – Send in your teams tentative schedule and roster if you have not done so already so I can post the information and begin this years pre-season rankings!

Thank you  for your continued support,

DW  –  dw@softballcenter.com

2013 was my first year following major level softball on the internet. I enjoyed watching an occasional game on the weekend. Thanks for all you do for major softball. Looking forward to 2014.

Thanks DW for all you do!

  3. The Dude says:

no Dudley this year??? Warren pissed you off that bad??? lol

    • DW says:

I need a break from the Dudley. Low team count, only two fields, and it is very expensive.

I strained/ruined a lot of relationships with USSSA over that debacle.

      • The Dude says:

Man DW I’ll miss ya, but I’m sure I will catch up with you somewhere down the road. Wont be the same event with out ya.

    • DW says:

Plus my daughters are going to be playing a lot of tournaments in June and July.

DW, Thanks for all your hard work promoting the game of softball. I watch as many streamed tournaments as I can, and The only tournament I had an issue with was the cincy major. The camera was set up above the concessions along the 3rd base line and it only showed from the pitchers mound to home plate. Wasn’t an easy tourney to watch because you don’t know where the ball goes. I also understand beggars can’t be choosers so I will still watch the same amount in 2014. Thanks again DW.

      Thanks for the support.

Remember on the video, I no longer do the livestreaming of the games, that is usssalive.com

That weekend in Cincinnati, USSSALive.com did not work because a storm came through and wiped out their internet so I put the camera up on the porch looking down at the field because there was no way to mount my camera on the fence.
