Russ Banasiak has passed away unexpectedly

It is with great sadness that I report that Russ Banasiak the hard nosed pitcher of Above All Landscape has passed away unexpectedly.  I remember Russ playing for Angle Inn and Above All Landscaping.  He was a great pitcher and fearless leader.  One comment on facebook says it was a heart attack or aneurysm while driving.  Hearing it was some sort of medical problem that hit him as he was driving, causing a low speed accident.

Played against him in Long Island a few years ago, seemed like a great guy and teammate. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and everyone in the softball community close to him.

My prayers are with his family!! I am very shocked to hear this news, I was a teammate of Russ ‘s on Angle Inn I’ll never forget some of the good times, especially the party at your house. R.I.P. This next season will definitely be different not seeing u around

This is very sad news. I had the pleasure of being Russ’ teammate last year with the Above All family. One of the greatest years of softball I have ever experienced. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the Above All family.

A fierce competitor and even better man off the field. Russ was the definition of a hard nose player and I am proud to say I was and still am his teammate. He is the reason I was brought on to the above all family 4 years ago. I always told him I’d go to battle with him until the end but this is the most unfortunate end I could have possibly envisioned. We love you little buddy and you will forever be on that field with us.RIP #22Legend

I’ve know Russ for almost 15 years an have played so much ball together i can’t even count. If I can grab one guy on the mound who would do anything on the bump to win, it would be him. The guy had a heart of Lion an always had great intentions. He was a friend through thick an thin. The praise he is receiving is long over due cause he has been one of the faces of softball in NJ for years. He was a true friend an will be missed. May you rest in piece little buddy, he was taken from us way to soon! You will always be apart of Above All an always in our hearts! Much love!

Russ you will be missed by so many, words cant describe. Had the pleasure to play with you and against you for years and I will cherish those memories. RIP double deuces and make us bald men proud up there. Luv you brother.

I met Russ on the softball field on many times, with him pitching and Mike Dill catching it was like playing softball with your wife, they alway’s had something to say good or not so good, Russ would let you know what he thought of your calls sometimes before you even made it, off the record I truly believe he thought he never threw a ball (LOL), The softball world has not only lost a great person and softball player they have lost a leader also, may Russ R.I.P and alway’s keep number 22 next to your heart, I know I will.
