2011 Interview
Why do you like the game of softball?
It appeals to everyone. Anyone can play the game at any level and
have fun with it. You can be playing in a league night with your friends
one night and two days later be in a different state playing for a world
championship.
Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
I have a ton of respect for Wegman and Purcell. Wegman plays just
about any position well and is extremely tough to defend. Purcell always
has a game plan out there and pitches to his defense better than anyone
in the game.
Where do you call home?
Scottsdale, Arizona
What do you do for a living?
I work for a private equity firm in Scottsdale
Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Yes, high school in Arizona, college at Cal and played in the NY Mets
organization
How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper
level?
I started playing local softball for fun with friends and was picked up
to play for the Canes a couple years ago.
What batting grip do you use?
I use a regular baseball grip…working on the overlap.
What is your favorite sports team?
NY Mets
What is your favorite sport other than softball?
Football
Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
No superstitions, just the belief that if you don't have team chemistry
you aren't going to be very successful regardless of your overall
talent.
What is your most memorable softball moment?
Winning the 'A' World Series this year with such a close group of
teammates. Chemistry played a big part in our success this season.
Is slowpitch softball a sport or a game?
Sport
What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Limiting each team to a set number of major players to entice sponsors
to participate with teams that can compete at the highest level.
What is your favorite non-World tournament?
The Windy City
Who are you playing with in 2011?
Nobody. I decided to take the first half of the year off to focus on
work and family. I am going to use the offseason and first part of next
year to work hard on my game as well. Hopefully I can really help
someone down the stretch next season.
