Monsta's Marc Wik puts a final nail in the Smash It coffin in extra innings at the 2022 USSSA Smoky Mountain Classic!

In one of the closest contested Smoky's in history Monsta/Albicocco/Racks/Nitro Circus (CA-Major) beat SmashIt/Thunder/Chose/Pure/RF/BD/TDB (NY-Major) in extra innings in the championship thus avoiding an "if" game to win the 54th annual in Maryville, Tennessee. Monsta went undefeated knocking off Resmondo/Smash It/All American/Menosse (FL-Major) 38-13 in the semifinals and Competititve Edge/Olmito/Suncoast (FL-AA) 19-13 in the winner's bracket finals. Competitive Edge wound up 3rd and MPT Rentals/Juno Athletics (NJ-Major) 4th in the 34 team event. The teams battle rain as all of the Saturday games were changed to 5 inning contests and they battled mud, and a rough batch of Pro-M balls but 4 of the last 5 games came down to the last inning, last at bat, or extra innings and the one that didn't, the MPT vs Smash It game, MPT actually led 14-12 going into the bottom of the 4th when Smash It scored 24 runs (19 before the 1st out) to win it 34-14 by the 20 run "mercy" rule.

KFI 13/Fireworks/Red Athlete/Torch from Virginia won the 7 team Women's Major in Brick, New Jersey sponsored by Juno Athletics. They went undefeated knocking off Bobby Pins/Win4Butch/OSS (CT-B) 12-3 in the winner's final and Lady Alpha/Fusion (MD-C) 16-8 in the championship game.
