Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
From the women’s side of things, I would definitely say Steffens Call. TEAM RED!
Why do you like the game of softball?
I have always loved the game of softball because no matter how much people attempt to alter equipment, you can’t fully cheat the game. You can either pick out a strike, or not. You can either hit a knuckleball, or you can’t.
Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
I saw so many women come through this past season and surprise me with their talent and abilities… it’s virtually impossible to pick just one.
What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Typically, people just call me “Meg” or “Decker”.
What is your height and weight?
5’10”. 150lbs
Where do you call home?
Michigan
What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
I grew up right on Lake Michigan, so any activities involving the lake… count me in!!

I am a Registered and Licensed Respiratory Therapist in an ICU.
Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
High School: softball, basketball, volleyball, swimming. College: softball
How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
After graduating college, I felt empty without having a softball base in my life… so I created a women’s slowpitch team called Hot Mess Express. I have moved up until I was asked by Monte LaClear to attend the Team USA Tryout and the rest is history.
In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Monte LaClear helps sponsor Derby Girls and he has been one of my biggest supporters since day one always pushing me to reach beyond what I thought I could achieve.
What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
The offseason I focus on strength training and BP/tee work.
What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
I will forever be a Detroit Red Wings fan and love hockey.
What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
I believe the best improvement is with the appreciation and loyalty that coaches and sponsors deserve to receive.

A small town tournament in Michigan called Hubb.
What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Similar to many others, I love playing in Viera.
Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I tell people I’m allergic to coconut because I’m terrified of the texture of it.
