Who are you playing with in 2017?
2017 C – The Show, C – Moonshots, Free agent most of year just travelled and played upper ball across the country.

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Utility Player
Best Position – Middle Man

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Best Hitter – Ryan Harvey, Brian Thirk, Scott Montoya
Best Positional Player – Luis Reyna
Best Pitcher – Mike Wilmer

Why do you like the game of softball?
Life after Baseball. Fast pace, competitive and challenging to get to the next level.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Johnny Sierra with Big ten out of Colorado. Young and already posses the mental game as a vet. Fast, hits for high average and hustles.

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Duke – I got it from my High school coach Mr. Payne due to my last name being Ellington.

What is your height and weight?
5'6" 175 lbs of muscle 🙂

Where do you call home?
Denver, CO

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Relaxing, Lifting, traveling

What do you do for a living?
Business Development Executive in the Energy market

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
High school – Baseball, wrestling, motor cross
College – Baseball, Rodeo

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
Started playing ball about 10 years ago. Pick up on a league team then eventually asked to play tourney ball and then progressed.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
How consistently Conference players can square balls and their high batted ball speed. Just impressive and fun to play with or against.

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
Luis Reyna or Jose Altuve

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
No particular highlight. I have been working hard trying to get better and I am starting to see the result and would love to get on a Conference team.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Shut your mouth, listen to the vets and work your ass off.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
27oz with one finger overlap

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Lift, eat right, gain extra muscle, rebuild my core, regain flexibility, 2 months before I start hitting off the tee until swing is 100% then Live BP back side and then gradually all over.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Rodeo Time! Dale Yeah! Keep it 90!

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
No not superstition. Just keep your head up and be positive.

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Mike Studd – Shine

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
More teams would be nice and more sponsors. Other than that nothing.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Winter-Nationals – Great time of year and great weather.
SW Invite – Great competition and a good scale to see where you stand as a team before the season starts. 

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Most BLD facilities.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Any place with Ice cream

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
I have made a 4 base error dropping a ball over the fence trying to make a catch. Mad at first but kind of funny.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I drag race street legal pro mod drag bikes

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
The best gift I received was my wrist curling bar with rope I received from Don Flowers at Ranger College. I still have it and use it once or twice a week.
