Who are you playing with in 2019, and who have you played with in the past?
Free Agent for the 2019 season – cain067@gmail.com

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Pitch primarily I can also play 1st Catch EH. Pitching is my best position

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
I have seen a lot of the greats play. NC has had a ton of guys who have been at the top level for a long time. Robert Blackburn Jeff Hall BJ Fulk Freddie Bynum are just a few that come to mind.

Why do you like the game of softball?
Personally for me it fills a huge void that I appeared after returning home from the military. I enjoy the brotherhood, meeting new people and the travel.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
I have a couple of guys who I feel can be great  at this game. There is a ton of young talent in the Carolinas right now. Travis Tucker Ian Sidebottom Aaron Miller Bradley Scott Bradley Jones Tyler Marshburn just to name a few but definitely not all.

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Cain,  Cain-o,  four-three are just a couple I hear a lot.

What is your height and weight?
5' 9"  225lbs

Where do you call home?
Thomasville, North Carolina

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Anything that involves my son always makes me happy. He is in college playing baseball so any of my off weekends will definitely be spent watching him play.

What do you do for a living?
I'm a Project Manager for an Electrical Company

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I played pretty much everything in high school football wrestling baseball track and even tennis

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
Actually started as a way to pass free time and occupy idle time. Craig Shaw with Pure Sports gave me an opportunity to play at the upper level.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
At the Conference level most everyone is pretty down to earth. Every now and then you will run into Mr. Hey look at me but not like you would expect.

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
I don't really know who I would compare my style with. My style is pretty old school. I'm gonna give you 100% from the 1st pitch to the final pitch. Step in the hole and pitch to your defense. Just grind it out.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Ive had talks with several people over the years. Moe Moore, (Robo) Robert Blackburn Chris Callcutt Dean Stevens.  My approach is do my job,  RESPECT THE GAME, your TEAM and stay true to yourself.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Dont be afraid to take the step. Sometimes you have to leave your buddies to move up. You will only get out of it what you put in it. Leave your attitude at home.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Overlap

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
I dont necessarily have an off season. I play alot. I workout and bp year round.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Football- Steelers

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
Not really

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
I like various types of music so it would change from time to time.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Smoky

I like Reno. Its my new favorite. Played out there a couple times and the atmosphere is great

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Not picky I can find something to eat anywhere.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
I could have endless answers here. The last year of the Honey Badgers/ Pure Sports (SC)  was a year I laughed the hardest thats for sure.

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
My favorite sports related gift would be watching my boys receive their accolades. I'm more of a team guy personal accolades are nice but winning a ring is the ultimate goal.

Kenneth Cain would be a great add on for any team that can use a leader. Pitches to his defense, hits the ball well and with power. Probably one of the most humble men I have ever had the chance to play with or against.
