Who are you playing with in 2017?
Free Agent – hizzy30@gmail.com

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Either corner

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Greg Connell does it better than anyone I've ever seen. Obviously he kills it but he's very underrated defensively I believe. Be does it all.

Why do you like the game of softball?
The friends you make from this game are life long relationships. I really enjoy being apart of a team and being a good teammate. It also feeds that need to compete.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
He's been doing it for a minute but Cory Newman finally getting the credit he deserves. Best arm in the game!

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Jhall or Hallsy. They just happened. They're pretty obvious.

What is your height and weight?
6'5" 255

Where do you call home?
Fredericktown, MO

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
With my daughter

What do you do for a living?
Self employed contractor/handyman.

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I played basketball, baseball and volleyball in high school. Basketball and baseball in college.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I got my start with Hubs Pub. Brandon and I had been friends for a year and called me one day and asked if I had ever heard of the conference. This was 2008ish so I hadn't. 2 years later we made the major and i've been hooked ever since. Had to take some time off fory daughter but ready to get back into it full swing.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
Pitching and balls through the infield. It's night and day.

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
Not really sure. Possibly Todd Joerling. He's one of the best I've ever seen so no real comparison as far as ability. Just like how he played the game correctly and had smart at bats. Hit down when needed and always had power. Had a great glove and was a fantastic teammate also.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
Making that first major will always be special to me. Nothing like playing in the stadium.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Scott Huff showed me how to play the game correctly from a very young age. When I got into the conference Greg Connell has always given me great advice and Kevin Bazat is a long time friend that I can always pick his brain.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Never take an at bat or play off, and when you're not playing watch. Never be too good to watch and learn.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
2 finger overlap 27 maxload

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Hit Bp, get in the gym. This season in particular work on foot speed and hand speed.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Cardinals/UNC tarheels/ Broncos. Couldn't possibly pick just one.
Basketball is my second favorite sport.

Flex by rich homie Quan

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Major player per team limits.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
The Dudley. The atmosphere up there is just great. They love their softball in Minnesota

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Big league dreams Vegas or Denver.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Anywhere with a cold beer and a tv.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
A friend  of mine played an entire league night as the naked cowboy on halloween.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I run multiple charities

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
I wouldn't consider them gifts, but wedding invites are by far my favorite thing.  Knowing you mean enough to a person that they want to share that day with you, is priceless.
