What positions do you play and what is your best position?
1B/C/Eh

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
I'll say a local TN guy, Heath Barnes.  He is a game changer on defense at ss. I believe he will be in conference this year and will make a name for himself quickly.

What is your height and weight?
6'1" 200 lbs

Where do you call home?
Jackson, TN

What do you do for a living?
Pharmaceutical sales representative.  Prior to working in pharma I was a high school baseball coach for 5 years and a college coach for 4 years.

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I played high school and college baseball.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
My pitching coach in college played with a C team in TN each summer after the baseball season was over.  After my senior season he asked me to play and I was instantly hooked.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
The overall athleticism of defenses and how the great pitchers can control the game.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Standard
27 oz

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
I typically run 20 miles a week and try to lift weights 3 days a week.  I hit as often as possible year round.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Pic-O-Dixie.  The Pic is played on great fields at the Summit and the quality of competition is high.

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
BLD. Nothing better than playing on turf.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
BWW

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
I once saw an second baseman run away from a hard hit ground ball hit right at him.   As he was running towards rightfield the ball bounced in his glove and he got the out at first. He played off like it was a routine play.

  7. Herb Price says:

Several have spoken on his talent – and he proved in conference he is a very good hitter – great potential. But he is also a great guy and teammate. If I was younger and starting a team of my own, would grab him to build with. A good team should give Joseph a shot – you won’t be disapointed.
