Interview conducted on 10/24/2018
Who are you playing with in 2019, and who have you played with in the past?
2019 Free Agent – 14jmoore21@gmail.com
2018 Played the second half of the season with Insane Sports
What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Pitcher
I can play anywhere in the infield as well
Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Too many names come to mind. Clearly any major player has proven they’re worthy of being mentioned.
Why do you like the game of softball?
Coming from a big baseball background, softball took its place as my passion for the game. No other sport has ever meant as much to me.
Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
There’s definitely several guys out of the Carolinas, majority of them playing the Upper Elite Series. However I don’t know if you can call him up and coming since he is already making noise quickly in conference but Tyler Marshburn is an all around baller at a young age.
What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
JMoore
What is your height and weight?
6’ 215lbs
Where do you call home?
Martinsville, VA
What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Spending time with family or on the golf course
What do you do for a living?
Construction and Lawncare
Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Played baseball through College and some independent ball
How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
My cousin introduced me to softball after baseball and I didn’t think I would like it but I was wrong. Worked my way up each year and put in a lot of work trying to impress the right people. Thankful that each upper level coach gave me opportunities to play for them.
What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
Obviously there aren’t really many easy outs, just try to make good pitches and hope they hit it right at your guys. Everyone can hit top to bottom and the defense is top knotch.
Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
I wouldn’t compare myself to anyone. But I strive to be as an accomplished player as Mooch. In my mind he is the best utrip pitcher in the game.
What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
Until I win an A world or higher then it’s not gonna be on my list as a career achievement
In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
My dad. He started me in baseball young and constantly made sure I put in my work to try and be the best player I could be. He shaped the work ethic I’ll always have despite any of my failures
What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Play hard and practice even harder

Baseball, Big Braves Fan
Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
Just try to repeat the process if it’s working, if not change it
What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Something funny, love to joke around when I can
What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Honestly I think the game is good how it is

You can read the lettering on his knuckleball. Good stuff
Those who enjoy the game of slow pitch know how demanding, dangerous, and exhausting pitching at a high level can be. Hungry and capable player right here who can lead a defense at any level.
Thanks brother I appreciate that
