How to have a 4, 6, 8, 14, 16, 20, or 44 team playoff!
Current 4 team College Football Playoff:
– Teams play a 12 game regular season schedule, Conference Championships, and up to 2 National Playoff Games for max of 15 games.
Possible 6 team College Football Playoff:
– The Power 5 Conference Champions plus the highest ranked non Champion or highest non power 5 champion all seeded by ranking.
– Teams play a 12 game regular season schedule, Conference Championships, and up to 3 National Playoff Games for max of 16 games.
Possible 8 team College Football Playoff:
– The Power 5 Conference Champions plus the 3 highest ranked non Champions or 2 highest ranked non champions and the highest non power 5 champion, all seeded by ranking.
– Teams play a 12 game regular season schedule, Conference Championships, and up to 3 National Playoff Games for max of 16 games.
Possible 14 team College Football Playoff:
– The 10 Division 1 Conference Champions plus the 4 highest ranked non Champions all seeded by ranking.
– Teams play an 11 game regular season schedule, Conference Championships, and up to 3 National Playoff Games for a max of 15 games.
Possible 16 team College Football Playoff:
– The 10 Division 1 Conference Champions plus the 6 highest ranked non Champions all seeded by ranking.
– Teams play an 11 game regular season schedule, Conference Championships, and up to 4 National Playoff Games for a max of 16 games.
– Teams from the same Conference playing in the first round could be switched up or down 1 seed.
Possible 20 team College Football Playoff:
– The 10 Division 1 Conference all play a Conference Championship.
– Teams play an 11 game regular season schedule, Conference Championships, and up to 4 National Playoff Games for a max of 16 games.
Possible 44 team College Football Playoff:
– The 10 Division 1 Conference Champs plus the Independent end their season with a 4 team playoff.
– Then the 11 winners seed into the bracket below by ranking.
– Teams play a 10 game regular season, up to 2 games in the Conference Playoffs and likely no more than 3 games in the National Playoffs.
– Non playoff teams can schedule their final 2 games at the end of the season to become Bowl eligible.
