Softball is extension of baseball to me. I love every aspect of the game from hitting to fielding to the friendship and bonds made on and off the field. I don't just like softball I LOVE SOFTBALL.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Travis Houseman- he is an absolute freak of an athlete. He can run like a deer and track balls and make the play when he gets there. Also DUDE hits with POWER and can hit for average when needed. I think he is a complete young outfielder can't wait to watch him grow more on the USA stage.

I played 4 sports in HS. I played baseball at NAIA school in DSM.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
A career highlight for me that stands out was hitting a HR in Cathedral City a couple years to help my team win a game at Toys for Tots. It wasn't significant to our overall finish to the tournament but it kept our team alive that day and I had a bunch of people on my team that didn't know me. For me being able to prove myself help my team and hit a monster bomb that mattered was a big moment for me personally.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Travis Houseman and Matt Schrage and Joey Bulens – these three guys all in their own way have given me advice and tips to help carry my game and elevate my training to the next level. Travis showed me how putting in work all year around not only in the gym but the cages can really turn my .700 – to .800 and it did. Matt has had a significant impact on me and my game because he has really shown me that if you are who you say you are and you do the things your capable of people will notice. He has really helped me become aware of whats important (hard work, friendships, respecting the game) and really gives me standard to try to catch up to. Joey has had a monster impact overall in my softball game. He has shown me that it has to be fun and enjoyable. When I first got into softball he was one of the only people that told me to STOP listening to all the haters and do ME.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
overlap and I'll swing 26 or 27 oz. When its cold in IOWA in ASA I will swing a 28.

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
My off season every year for the last 3 years has been nonstop training. I am a personal trainer so needless to say working out has never been skipped. In the off season when the weather turn in IOWA I get to the cages about 2 times a week sometimes 3. In the last year I have went back to more of my college style training in preparation of a shot in the conference. footwork , ground balls, cone drills, even hitting some sprints with the parachute. To say I have been training my ass of to get a shot is an understatement.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
PITTSBURGH STEELERS – my dads side of the family is all from there. 10 brothers and sisters and over 100 people in my family there. Its more than football with us.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Toys for Tots in PALM SPRINGS – because its paradise between the mountains.

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Disney Wide World of Sports in Florida – that was always the mecca trip. The experience of being in Florida as a Midwest kid seeing all the sights and things that come with it. Hands down best experience I have had to date.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
anywhere that all my teammates are at.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I lost my one of my closest friends in college suddenly. Since that day I made a promise to him and myself that I would see all of my goals through. My path has not been a straight line but between him and God watching out for me I have and will continue to chase everything in life that I want.

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
I received a signed photo of Babe Ruth a couple years back still a little overwhelming that I have it.
