Who are you playing with in 2019, and who have you played with in the past?
2019 Free Agent – camnewhouse@gmail.com

2018 – SNI; 2015-2017 – Wileys/Supreme; 2014 – Vivid

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
I've been almost exclusively a corner outfielder, but I can run center in a pinch.

Why do you like the game of softball?
Softball allows me to remain competitive now that my baseball days are over.

What is your height and weight?
5'10", 185lb

Where do you call home?
Sarasota, FL

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Spending time with family and friends by the pool.

What do you do for a living?
I am a Project Manager at the local airport.

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Baseball in HS, turned down out of state offers to stay in Florida. Played in a couple amateur/independent leagues into my early twenties.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
In 2014, I was in the right place at the right time. Heading into the Dual, Jon Kilburn needed an outfielder and Brett Melton threw my name in the hat.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
The consistency and quality of play is what separates the Conference from the rest.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
I have a couple Freedom "World" rings, but in 2016 I was on the Wileys/Supreme team that made a run in Houston. We had a very good weekend, finishing third against a strong field of teams.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Living in Florida, I have had the opportunity to hit BP and play with many upper level players. This has allowed me to pick their brains about pitch selection, defensive positioning, etc.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Keep working hard and stay humble. You never know when someone is watching.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Baseball grip with a 27oz.

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Take a little time off to recover, then back into BP come December/January.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
I've been a Rays fan since 1998 and follow WVU football and basketball.

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Start testing for PED's.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Boone's tournament is always a good time, as well as Wilson's unlimited in South Florida.

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Myrtle Beach, Sanford, Viera because of the turf. Oklahoma City is a great complex too.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
I played with Mike Wrenn for a season. It's hard to be serious when he's breaking it down at first base.

A great hitter to all sides of the field can hit for power or on base, and an even better teammate! Best of luck this year!
