2020 USSSA Senior Conference Space Coast Classic tournament report!

The new USSSA Senior Conference kicked off at the Space Coast Stadium February 22nd and 23rd.  The 7 Senior teams started with pool play on Saturday followed by a double elimination tournament on Sunday.  There were also 69 men's and women's teams playing the USSSA Winter Worlds at the complex.  The Senior tournament was won by FBI/Worth/Miken who went 4-1 on the weekend only losing to Smash It Sports-Team USA in the first game of the Championship on Sunday 12-5 but then FBI avenged the loss by winning the "if" necessary game 34-17.  3rd place was Benefit the Badge/Escobar/Miken put together by former Nightmare sponsor Nolan Fogle.  And the Men's 50 AAA was won by Absolute Fire over Grey Gorillas and the Men's 55 Conf was won by Kelleher/Lemay over Smash It Sports/Team USA 55.

I tuned in to the USSSALive.com livestream some on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon and there were a lot of homers hit on the stadium field on Saturday in particular.  I wasn't able to find rosters online but I noticed FBI had Brad Stillwell at shortstop, Albert Davis who won the home run derby, former Conference hitter Mike Dill, Rhodney Donaldson, and of course is put together by longtime Conference sponsor and former USSSA 'A' World Champion Chris Walker from Arkansas.  The Smash It Sports-Team USA team had Andy Purcell playing middle infield and pitching, shortstop Dennis Rulli who was making some nice plays, and Johnny Bailey among others.  Jeff Hall was the tournament director.

The Senior Conference uses the strike mat, the pitching screen was optional, they used the safety bag at first, and also the run scoring line at home plate.

Albert Davis of FBI won the Senior home run derby.

They used 70 foot bases and the full 335-365-385-365-335 field dimensions with the Dudley Stadium ZN ball.
