2019 St Louis Major Bracket and Teams Link

The Frank Webb Memorial tournament in St. Louis this weekend features 13 Conference USSSA teams and 23 teams total in a double elimination tournament at the Bridgeton Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Louis, Missouri.  The tournament is played in honor of former Resmondo manager and USSSA Hall of Famer Frank Webb who passed away from cancer in 2016.  The picture of Frank below brings back a lot of great memories to myself but I am sure to everyone that has been around upper level softball.  Frank was from the Missouri area and that is why this tournament which used to be called the Gateway Classic has been renamed in his honor.  The tournament is held on the 5 – 310 foot fields with the Dudley Classic M ball and the normal 8-12-16 home run limits.  There is a lot of rain in the forecast and they are calling for cooler temperatures so expect high scores and adverse conditions.  The tournament winner will earn 165 + (13 x 3) = 204 points.  Weather permitting I plan to stream all of the games on USSSALive.com and the chat room on softballcenter.com will also be up for updates and to answer your questions.

Resmondo is the favorite but are not necessarily known for playing well in the mud and rain.  Pure Sport and Smash It/Precision are good on the 310 foot fields so they may give Resmondo a run for their money.  This is the first conference event of the year played on dirt.  Las Vegas, Houston, the Hall of Fame Classic, and the Cajun all had turf infields…

Frank Webb broke into upper level softball with the St. Louis Merchants from 1991 through 1994.  He helped manage Hague/Resmondo to back-to-back USSSA “AA” World titles in 1999 and 2000, and to a Men’s Major World Series title in 2003.  Hague/Resmondo finished third in the World Series with Webb at the helm in 2001, 2002 and 2004.  Since 2005, Webb’s Resmondo-backed teams have won six of the last seven World Series titles, and in 2009 Resmondo/Specialty Tank compiled a 62-3 Conference USSSA record.  He won several Major World Series between 2010 and 2015 as well.

Shea Nations picks

Shea's ASP Trailer

This weekend at the Frank Webb Major Presented by Worth in Bridgeton, MO will have 23 teams and 13 Nationwide Conference USSSA teams in attendance including 2 major, 5 AA, 4 A, 2 B and 12 local teams. Pure Sport is the #1 overall seed.

Frank Webb Major Predictions:  The 1st Annual Frank Webb Major is loaded with teams that underachieved 3 weeks ago at The Dual.  Resmondo/SIS/RDD/H.Auto/Sprizzi/S&S after finishing 4-2 and averaging 18 runs per game in the 1st Dual and finishing 3-2 and averaging 19 runs per game in the 2nd Dual will be glad to be at a hitter friendly ballpark.  Pure Sport who finished the Dual event with an overall record of 3-4 will take the field with a new look after releasing 2 key infielders, an outfielder, and a designated hitter.  Riot Sports/Hubs Pub/Klutch/showtime, Classic Glass / Easton, and VIVID also didn't have very good showings at the Dual for various other reasons.  The final 4 undefeated should be: Pure Sports versus Seminoles and Riot versus Resmondo.  The power hitting from Resmondo will help them make it to the championship game undefeated.  In the losers bracket I predict Smash It/Precision to make a run after losing to Resmondo in the Elite 8.

Shea's Final Picks for the Frank Webb Major:
1. Resmondo/SIS/RDD/H.Auto/Sprizzi/S&S
2. SmashIt/Precision/3rdStreet/Bulldawg
3. Pure Sport
4. Riot Sports/Hubs Pub/Klutch/showtime
5. Classic Glass / Easton
