The 2018 USSSA Convention is under way in California

Keynote speaker Scott Stratten opened the USSSA Convention talking about how quickly new technology occurs in America and how the different generations cope with it.  What he said did make many think of the change from Disney to Viera for USSSA World tournaments.  This was followed by the introduction by the board of directors of the new CEO Don Dedonatis III.  After that, the different sports split off to their repective meetings.  The slow pitch meeting led by Brian Wegman and lasted for 2 hours and had some spirited debate about classification, state vs NCC power, world dates and facilities, and some new technology ideas surrounding classification.  By the end of the week the regional directors map should be out and has some changes.  Also the NCC and Auto bump list is being finalized and should be out by December 1st.

Some other random news worthy notes is the Myrtle Beach Conference event will be Mothers Day Weekend.  The Louisiana Cajun Major is in April this year instead of July.  The full Conference schedule usually comes out at the Conference meeting on Thursday at 11:30 AM.  The Toys 4 Tots in Palm Springs has 36 Open Division teams!  Stro will be the head of the Conference.

Tuesday is the general assembly, technology day, and the retirement party for Danny Brown.

Wednesday is the golf tournament, wine tours, and the exhibitors show.

Thursday wraps things up with the men's and women's Conference and slowpitch meetings as well as the Hall of Fame Banquet.

Don Dedonatis III was introduced as the new USSSA CEO

Sorry to hear Danny is retiring..he built an unbelievable program in NorCal and along the west coast. The whole west coast softball community should thank Danny for much of the joy almost all of them have had on a usssa softball field.

When will the 2019 schedule be released?
