2015 Circle City Team List

The "Circle City Classic" returns to the Midwest Sports Complex as a Nationwide Conference USSSA event!  For many years (1996-2001) the classic was an NSA flight tournament that was attended by a large amount of the top teams.  See the list of winners at the bottom of this article.  Note some of the huge stat totals like Dennis Mendoza's 32 homers in 1999!  Now the event is a part of the Conference and has a nice second year turnout of 11 Conference teams led by Precision, Reds Astros, and Pure Romance.  The tournament starts on Saturday at 9 AM Eastern

Team Breakdown:
18 Teams Overall
11 Conference USSSA Teams
  3 'A' Team
  4 'B' Teams
  7 'C' Teams
  4 'D/E' Teams

Anonymous picker is back with his picks and commentary:

The 2015 Circle City Classic will feature 18 teams including 11 teams from Nationwide Conference USSSA.  Precision/Easton comes in as the favorite, but Red's Astros, Pure Romance, and Compound Athletics will have something to say about that before it's all said and done.  After a week off from the picks can I get back to my winning ways?  Let's take a look at the picks and find out.

The top half of the bracket will be an absolute dog fight.  3rd Street/Hub's Pub should face Pure Romance in round 2.  I like the way both teams play the game.  I think it comes down to pitching in this one, and it's hard to pick against Brandon Jonas.  I'll take PRI, but this will be a close game.  Red's Astros might have a sneaky tough game in its second round.  Rebel Sports has shown that it won't back down to anybody.  I like Red's in this one, but I don't think it will be a run rule.  Red's vs PRI will be very entertaining.  If Red's can keep its composure and avoid the trash talk battle I think the team advances.  If PRI can find a way to get under Red's skin the whole game can change.  I'll take Red's here.

The lower half of the bracket should see Precision walking to the winner's semi-final.  The most interesting game of the weekend could be Compound Athletics vs TG Brand.  TG has been looking for a big win, and this would be huge.  Compound recently added Keith Anderson, and he has been a catalyst for the offense.  By adding Kyle Pearson, Lyf Nymo, and Justin Stuart from CA Sports/Buzini Compound looks like a new favorite in the B division.  I'll take Compound to get past TG and face off with Precision.  Recently Precision has been playing like the 3rd best team in the country.  Precision has an extremely balanced offense, solid defense, and a pitcher who can dominate in Andy Vitcak.  I really like Compound and its new additions, but it's hard to pick against Precision.  I'll take Precision, but don't be shocked if there is an upset here.

The winner's bracket final between Precision and Red's could be a preview of this year's 'A' world final.  Precision has its eyes set on another amazing September run, and Indiana is a great place to establish dominance over the A and B teams.  Precision wins this one and eventually the tournament.  I like Compound to get past Red's and finish second.  This might be one of the most entertaining tournaments of the year.  The big 5 have the weekend off, and that makes for some unpredictable results.  Hitting 2 out of 4 would be a success this week in your pick em.  Good luck!

Anonymous pickers Final Predictions:
1. Precision
2. Compound Athletics
3. Red's Astros
4. Pure Romance
