Tournament Preview
The Peach State Shootout this year features 7 Nationwide Conference USSSA teams of the 'B' level and below. Which means we will have a first time winner! Primetime gets the #1 seed based on the final 2012 points. The Chicago tournament in two more weeks will be the first time teams are seeded off of 2013 points. The Atlanta Major will be played in one day with teams starting out at either 8 AM or 9:15 AM in the morning and the "if" game of the championship is set for 10 PM. That is one long day for the top 4 teams.
The top half of the bracket is loaded with Primetime who plays well in Atlanta upsetting both Suncoast and Shoppe the last two years there. Also Adiktiv has been mashing the ball all season long. You also have BaughFord.com who is the oldscout poll pick to win the tournament. In the lower half of the bracket you have 4 conference teams led by Headhunters then B&B Sears, Sons of the Legion playing their first event, and Nightmare.
I am going to go with Primetime in this one. I think they really step up their game in this tournament every year. I will go with Headhunters 2nd. They have the easier side of the bracket and enough power to hit homers in the heat of the day. Lets go with BaughFord 3rd. They are missing a couple of hitters. And Adiktiv 4th.
Really all of the 'C' teams and 'B' teams are capable of winning any game they play in this tournament, I just don't think these 'C' teams are capable of winning 3 in a row against Conference opponents in order to win the event.
Good luck to all teams. It should be interesting to see who wins their first ever Nationwide Conference event!
I am not aware whether or not USSSALive will be streaming this tournament and I won't be in attendance as I travel to family events all 3 days of the long weekend. I will be back covering 5 Nationwide Conference events in the month of June however, starting with Columbus, Ohio next weekend.
