South Carolina results and bracket

Demarini/Dirty/3n2/Atwldesigns walks through the 6th Annual Carolina Shootout by outscoring their opponents 118-49 in blistering 105 degree heat this past weekend.  They beat Shoppe/Team TPS/Elite in both the winner's bracket championship and the championship by a combined total of 56-27.  Demarini/Dirty wins their third Conference tournament of the season and the bonus points for winning puts them back into the running for the #1 team in the nation when the computer rankings come out later this week.

Shoppe finishes 2nd with their only losses being to Demarini/Dirty.  The newly bumped to 'B' – Westshore Pizza/TPS finishes 3rd after losing their opener to Primetime 9-7.  Westshore then rattled off 5 straight wins including sending home 4 Conference teams in a row which included D2E and Taylormade.  Taylormade was 4th and Team 454 and Primetime tied for 5th.

All 8 of the second round games were filled with Conference teams as the locals shut down quickly in the heat.

All tournament selections and MVP's have not been selected as of the time of this writing.

I want to take a closer look at Demarini/Dirty's 2012 season.  They are now 24-7 on the season.  They lost their opener of the season to R&M at the Hall of Fame Classic 24-17 then their second loss that tournament to Shoppe 18-6.  In the second tournament of the HOF they lost to Nordkap by 1 in the winner's bracket championship then got run ruled by Laservision the next day.  They are 18-3 since that point.  They lost to Shoppe in the first game of the championship at Indiana, which didn't matter because they won the "if" game.  And then in Chicago they had that loss to Laservision where they were winning going into the bottom of the 5th and got run ruled in the bottom of the 5th, crazy.  And TYJA/Reebok knocked them out of Chicago 25-18.

So they have only been run ruled twice.  Both by Laservision and its hard to call the Chicago game a run rule when they were leading going into the inning.  To be honest maybe the rule should be changed.  If you are leading going into an inning how can you not get a chance to bat again?  In no way did they feel like they weren't still alive in that game.

Any way you look at it, Demarini has come on strong, 18-3 in their last 21 games.  They are winning games in the heat, the nighttime slugfests, and competing with the Major teams when they get a chance.  I would still love to see that Demarini/Dirty vs Resmondo game which has eluded us all year…
