2011 Conference USSSA
"Cactus Classic"

I was in Kansas City this past weekend so this information is from a few people I talked to about the Phoenix tournament
Team classification breakdown: 3- Major, 5 'B', 5 'C', 6 'D, 4 'E' with 7 of them being from Conference USSSA.
Bat testing was used with full garbage can testing for the last 6 games. The weather was in the 70's, cool in the morning and evenings and the ball was FLYING!
GTL Cartel/DeMarini ran through the "Cactus Classic" in Phoenix, Arizona with a 5-0 record as they run ruled each opponent. GTL did so without their 2-time tournament MVP pitcher Geno Buck. GTL wins their 3rd Conference Tournament of the season.
2nd place was Sonny's/Beacon/Cowboys/Sidelines a 'B' team based out of Wyoming that won 5 straight in the loser's bracket after losing to Team Combat/Laser Vision and scoring a big loser's championship win over Combat/Pharmapar 41-34.
3rd – Combat/Pharmapar finished 3rd and displayed the most power and scored 50 in one game as they played most of their games with the wind blowing out. Apparently a number of players were hitting balls onto the nearby freeway.
4th – Madd Skills/Watchyurlips a 'C' team beat Laser Vision 29-25.
5th Team Demarini I was told looked real good. They won their first 3 games then got knocked in a good game with Sonny's 28-24. Demarini has changed their roster a lot since Las Vegas.
5th Team Combat/LaserVision/D2E/Supreme played without a bunch of their regulars for various reasons and I heard Brett Helmer was playing LF, Seth Stephens was playing CF and Kathem Martin was playing RF. McGavin, Baker, and McCraw were all missing among others. Laser Vision survived a 36-35 win over Sonny's or they would have finished outside of the top 5.
7th AZM / CARTEL won 3 in the loser's bracket and knocked out fellow Conference 'B' team Texas Miken 22-20
13th Texas Miken Softball Club finished 1-2 on the weekend with no upper level wins. Tough start to the season for them.
