Interview conducted on 2/8/2016

Who are you playing with in 2016?
Bear Hollow Ranch

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Anywhere but center and pitcher. I played left field and right field the past 2 years but have played on the infield the rest of my career.  I would say either middle, 2nd, or 3rd is my best position

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
When you go to a conference event there are great players on every team

Why do you like the game of softball?
It fills my competitive nature. I have always loved the quote I would rather win and die than lose and live.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
There are way to many to name

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
T.D. my initials

What is your height and weight?
6'3" 215 lbs

Where do you call home?
Summerville, GA

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Staying at home with the wife and kids

What do you do for a living?
Physical education and health teacher.  Head baseball coach

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Played baseball and basketball in high school. Played 4 years of college baseball.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I started out playing league and tournaments in Gadsden, AL. I just tried to move up every year and be the best player at whatever park we were playing at that weekend.  Logo Express gave me a shot in 2009 and I really didn't understand what the conference thing was all about then, but got to play again with OI Livingston the last 2 years.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
Everything was faster.  In non conference there are some holes in the line up and the field and in conference everyone can play

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
No not really just try to play my game

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
I guess being 2nd team all conference 2 years ago would have to be up there on my list

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Wherever and whoever you are playing try to be the best player and the hardest worker there.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Regular baseball grip and a 26 oz. Balance or end load

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
I have worked out and ran more this off season than I ever have.  I lift weight 4-5 days a week and run 2-3 days a week. Playing in the outfield the last year made me realize how important being in shape is

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
The Florida Gators and I have always loved playing golf

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
I don't step in the batters box unless I'm getting ready to hit.

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Of wolf and man by Metallica

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Don't mess with it if it's not broken

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
The smoky is a great tournament with a wonderful atmosphere

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Disney and the Astros fields in Kissimmee. They are always in perfect condition

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
You would have to ask Jamie puffin Hancock about that.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
I could tell a few stories about Andy Urban that are hilarious. He was always making the game fun

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I'm not a real talkative guy so I'm sure not a lot of people know anything about me

TD will be a great addition to any team. He makes hitting a double look effortless &has the Hr power when needed. Like he said he can play infield or outfield. Best of luck to you buddy. Once you get him to talk he is hilarious especially on an 8 hour drive to Orlando

Great player and teammate! The best overall player I have played with the last 5 years in conference. Can play anywhere in the infield or outfield. Hits line to line and has no problem hitting with power on the baseball fields. You will not find a better teammate and guy then TD. He does what it takes to win and never complains. Good Luck this year and whichever team that picks him up just got a whole lot better!

TD is a great guy and one fine softball player. He can hit doubles in his sleep and never break a sweat. I have enjoyed spending time with him during the past few years and he does have a sense of humor despite what he tells folks. Want to wish him the best of luck and safe travels.
