I like the competitiveness and the friendships that I have gained over the years.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Tyler Green and Erik Kanaby. Both guys just finished their first years in the conference and are already on major teams.

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Played baseball in high school and college. San Jac all the way!

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I first started playing D in 2010. My buddy David Prahm called me up and asked if i wanted to start playing. Got cut off of my very first tournament team (thank you very much Phil Melton) lol. Inspired me to work on my game and improve. In 2013 I was playing with old school in the c division and we did well in some conference events and I was picked up to play the Smoky mountain classic (thanks to my buddy Matt Kainer for putting my name out there).  Had a blast and got to see the best teams play and I was hooked.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
Speed of the game, the professionalism of the umpires and the opposing teams. Also met some incredible sponsors over the years that are willing to spend so much time and money on this game.

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
Ham from the sandlot.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
Hit 3 homeruns against Jean Shoppe in the Friday night game at the 2013 smoky mountain classic. Was really nervous and it was my biggest softball tournament I had played at that point. Thought to myself before an at bat "man there are a lot of people watching, please God don't pop up!" Lol

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Phil Melton cutting me lit a fire under my butt to work harder and get better
Mario Varela for being a great sponsor and putting us in every conference event we could make
Tim Barnes for pushing me to leave it all out on the field.
Mark Holsonback for being a great guy and sponsor. And for rocking flip flops during a game lol.
My boys Billy Maggard and Matt Kainer. Matt stuck his neck out for me and Billy always tells me I'm trash which makes me work harder.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
When you take bp, don't just try and hit it as far as you can. Work on situational hitting and spraying the ball around the field.

27oz drop two fingers on my bottom hand

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Hit plenty of bp, mix in some local tournaments.

Never been superstitious

Enter sandman by metallica

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Maybe protect the pitchers more. Saw a lot of
Guys hurt last year.

Always have a good time at the Budweiser festival in college station.

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Playing in Orlando at Disney. Beautiful complex

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Buffalo Wild Wings. Or if I'm with my buddy Casey Brown then we have to eat McDonald's lol. It's his fav

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
Playing for disturbed in 2012, at a tournament in spring tx, My boy David Prahm hit a ground ball and collided with the first baseman. Dave is 6ft 4 and about 280 and the first baseman was about the size of lil Chris Lopez 5ft 7 160lbs on a good day. Dave got sent flying threw the air and did a few barrel rolls while the first baseman just stood there. We all laughed and Dave swore his neck was broken even though he eventually got up and went to sit on the bench. Pride shattering moment. Sorry Dave.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I'm a pretty big nerd. Love Harry Potter and Game of Thrones

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
It was a privilege to be at the game when Craig Biggio got

Had the opportunity to play with Taylor as a lower D player one time. Rarely have met someone so dead set on playing the game the way it should be played with so much advice and explanation on the choices you make, after watching him play for a long time now and knowing him can definitely say would help any team out there and works as hard as anyone out there on his game. An amazing player and even better person.
