Why do you like the game of softball?
Gives me a chance to compete, stay active, and hang out with friends.
Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
A lot of good players out there but the two I will mention are Brett Helmer and Bryson Baker.
What is your nickname in softball?
Stevie or Moonlight
What is your height and weight?
5'10" 180-185lbs
Where do you call home?
Pickerington, Ohio
What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Spending time with my wife and any kind of outdoor activity if weather permits.
What do you do for a living?
Educational Specialist
Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Baseball at Grove City High School and Mt. Vernon Nazarene University in college.
How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
First real year of softball I played C with a local team called EZ Cash. Played leagues with Jeff Schmitt and the following year he asked me to be apart of Pipe. Thanks Jeff!
What was the best advice you were ever given?
I have been given a lot of advice from some good veteran players so I just try to soak in as much info as I can to get better.
What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Listen to all advice from guys who have been successful playing this game. Also get out and work on your game and remember homeruns are overrated most of the time. haha
What position do you play?
I can play about anywhere but normally SS, 2B, or outfield.
What batting grip do you use?
Drop pinky off knob.
What ounce bat do you use?
27 or 28.
What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Run, lift light weights more reps, and hit.
What is your favorite sports team?
I'm a Yankees fan.
What is your favorite sport other than softball?
Baseball
Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
No
What is your most memorable softball moment?
Beating Resmondo in the St. Louis Major a few years back.
What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Crazy Train
What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
I like the way it is, I like to try and beat the stacked teams. Makes the games intense and fun.
What is your favorite non-World tournament?
Smoky's
What is the best softball field you have played at and why?
San Diego fields were nice as well as Disney.
What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
At the smoky's during the friday night game had a former teammate borrow a cup from another player and when he was putting it in at his position he dropped it down his pant leg and caused a 10 min delay before the pitch because he was trying to get it out at the bottom of his pants. The crowd lost it.
