Why do you like the game of softball?
It satisfies my competitive nature and you get to travel places I would likely never have traveled and meet people I would have likely never met.
Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Hitter - Mike Dill (Can be the big bopper or the base hitter)
Fielder - Dave Kelley (Makes everybody on the infield better and has made plays I still can't believe were made)
All Around - K Rye (Only bad game he has is when he isn't in the lineup)
What is your nickname in softball?
DZ or Zwack
Where do you call home?
Grew up in Minneapolis, MN but currently live just outside of Baltimore, MD
What do you do for a living?
Design Engineer for a DoD subcontractor
Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Played hockey and baseball in High school and played Baseball at Winona State University in MN.
How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
Didn't start playing softball until I finished college ball. Played a couple years of D/E ball and really got my start in 08. Would like to thank John Eberl and Kelly Burke of Sports55 for picking me up to play with their conference team. We were only a D team, but the conference is what really got me hooked. In 2010 I played a few times against Cory Boothe in some back yard tournaments. He got me in touch with Brian Floyd, who asked me to play for TaylorMade in 2011.
What position do you play?
SS, 2nd, 3rd
What batting grip do you use?
Standard baseball grip
What ounce bat, make and model do you use?
26oz. Miken 585 is my bat of choice.
What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
P90x type workouts and put in a lot of wife time.
What is your favorite sports team?
I try to keep up with the MN teams, but there hasn't been much to read about lately.
What is your favorite sport other than softball?
Golf or Hockey
What is your most memorable softball moment?
Getting 2nd at Major Worlds this year with TaylorMade. Getting 2nd at D worlds in 08 in a 256 team bracket was pretty amazing as well.
What is your favorite non-World tournament?
The carny tour in MN
