2014 Interview:

Why do you like the game of softball?
I love the competiveness and the friendships you make along the way

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Too many to mention

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Not sure if anyone's ever heard of him but Stuart Snell. Has probably hit some of the furthest balls i've ever witnessed and just a great humble guy to be around.

What is your nickname in softball?
Nicko or Chopper Nick

What is your height and weight?
6'1 210

Where do you call home?
Webster, Tx

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
I like to spend time with my wife and two year old daughter or go back home to the farm in  Giddings, Tx and visit my family and just relax.

What do you do for a living?
I do Advanced Services at a Nondestructive Testing and Engineering company.

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Just played football and baseball in high school. Had my chances to go further but school wasn't for me and I fell in love young and the rest is history

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I started playing when I was still in high school in the local league and fair tournaments.  Then got on a local Miken tourney team and thats when I got hooked. Was playing D ball back in 2006 and got asked to come play shortstop for the Choppers out of Austin who got bumped from D to B that year.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
Pretty much every aspect is different but I like the way its set up. Definitely have to be smarter at the plate.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
I learned the hard way but from what I've learned is to just stay humble and let your play do the talking.  Remember someone is always watching.

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
I play shortstop and outfield. Played outfield all last year though. Hopefully this year I can make my way in the infield some.

What batting grip do you use?

What ounce bat do you use?

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Try to take bp when I can and just workout and stay loose

What is your favorite sports team?
Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys

What is your favorite sport other than softball?
Football and Baseball

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
I adjust my batting glove a lot before each at bat and in between pitches. Think its more ocd than a superstition though lol.

What is your most memorable softball moment?
Well besides all the numerous coed events and league night championships i've won over the years I would have to say being the first C team to win a major at the Space City last year.

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Probably something ghetto

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
I like it the way it is

What is your favorite non-World tournament?
Schulenburg Festival

What is the best softball field you have played at and why?
My back yard. Big League Dreams in League City, Texas. Never rains out and the turf infield spoils you as an infielder.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Logans for sure
