Who are you playing with in 2012?
TAYLORMADE/TM SPORTS/ MIZUNO

Why do you like the game of softball?
I really enjoy the travel and the competition.  But mostly because the game allows you to meet new people every weekend and because of this I have built many great friendships.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?

I haven't been around the game very long and there is so much talent in the game right now its really hard to pinpoint one.
Obviously the guys that are consistently at the top statistically each year speak for themselves, Helmer, Connell, Wegman, Bryson, and so on..
Chris Calcut and Kevin Rye are two of the best I've had the chance to play along side.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?

Kevin Kennington.  This guy has an opportunity to be one of the best "all around" players in the game.

Where do you call home?
Wilmington, NC with my wife Blain, daughter Maddie and son Dylan.

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?

Anything with the family..

What do you do for a living?

I manage independently owned accounts for Coastal Beverage Company, a MillerCoors distributor.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I started playing on a travel team with my dad back in 2000.  At the time I had very little interest in spending my weekends playing softball.  I played off and on at the C/D level until 2006.  After taking 4 years completely off due to injuries I started playing league ball with Chyenne Brooks in 2010 and the rest is history.  I would not be playing at the upper level if it were not for Chyenne extending the offer and Brian Floyd (no relation) agreeing to give me shot, I literally had no resume so to speak.  These two guys along with Travis Taylor know the game inside and out and have brought some great talent up through the Taylormade outfit.  I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to represent Taylormade, TM Sports and Mizuno in 2012.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

"If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten."

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?

Recognize your weaknesses and allocate more time to focus on them.

What position do you play?

1B/3B

What batting grip do you use?

I use an overlap grip with bottom two fingers off the knob.

What ounce bat do you use?

28.5oz MIZUNO BLACKOUT

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?

In the offseason I try to hit the gym 3-4 days a week to stay in shape.  This offseason I have devoted more time for bp and infield drills.  I try to hit 4-5 times a week with ground balls and long toss mixed in.

What is your favorite sports team?

Tar Heels

What is your favorite sport other than softball?

Basketball

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?

None

What is your most memorable softball moment?

Finishing 2nd in the 2011 Major World Series as the 16th seed.  Pretty amazing week of softball with some of the best teammates I've ever had.

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Personally I like it the way it is.

What is your favorite non-World tournament?

The Smoky.  Atmosphere is 2nd to none.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Anywhere that has Miller Lite on tap!!
