2011 Interview

Why do you like the game of softball?
I like the game of softball because it gives you the opportunity to play a sport that allows you to still compete at the highest level once your college days are over.  It also allows you to meet and develop friendships with other players from all over the country.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
I really am not sure if I can answer this question.  I really enjoy watching everyone at the upper level; they make the game look so effortless.

What position do you play?
I play the outfield

Where do you call home?
Overland Park, Ks

What do you do for a living?
I am a Business Development Manager for a staffing firm called Pro Staff

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I played basketball and baseball in high school and went on to play college basketball for four years.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I first started playing local softball with a team called Cow Creek out of Hoisington, Ks.   I didn't even know there was such a thing as competitive softball at that time when I was 18.   I then played with a team out of Great Bend, Ks called 10th Street softball.   From there, I moved to Kansas City where I played a few years for a couple of teams including Syndicate Softball and then was picked up by Hubs Pub in 2009.   I played two years with them in the conference and now have the opportunity to play with EWS.

What is your favorite sports team?
The University of Kansas Basketball…Rock Chalk!

What is your favorite sport other than softball?
Toss up between Beer Frisbee and Fooknuckle Ball

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
Yes…I don't like to cut my toe nails (talons) during the season…or, ever.

What is your most memorable softball moment?
My most memorable softball moment would have to be winning ASA "A" World with Long Haul in 2009

Is slowpitch softball a sport or a game?
Definitely a sport, but could be misclassified as a game due to it being a game, but definitely a sport….huh?

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Provide extra cheese with the Nachos at no additional cost

What is your favorite non-World tournament?
My favorite non-World Tournament is the Annual Hollyrood Softball Classic hosted in Hollyrood, Ks…Unbelievable environment and so rich in tradition.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
There are too many to name, and I couldn't do it to some of my teammates.
