2017 Tradesmen Elite

2018 Free Agent – K.Hart_88@icloud.com

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
OF, 3rd, 1st, Middle Infield. outfield being my best position.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
That's a tough one. I'd have to say Flip Washington and Brad Carlsen. They both make plays that seem effortless.

Why do you like the game of softball?
definitely the competition and the friendships I've made.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
My dude Ronald "Blackie" Fryer. He works hard and always has the drive to get better and you can definitely see the progress he is making.

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Don't really have a nickname, my friends just call me Hart. But from the outfield I have heard FedEx or Magellan be called out once or twice because I have air mailed a few balls onto other fields and the routes I have sometimes taken.

What is your height and weight?
6'3 240lbs

Where do you call home?
Pasco, Washington

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
I like to spend time with my little girl. She is a monster and really gives me a run for my money! Or go have a good time with my dudes Brian Kelly or Nick Rojas, we are either taking BP or BBQing and its always a good time.

What do you do for a living?
I'm a graveyard Lead for a shipping/receiving plant for Lamb Weston.

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I was a 3 sport athlete in high school. And played some college baseball.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I think I was 15 when i first started playing started playing with my dad in league with a Police department team. We were not very good but it was always a good time! I got to the upper level because my dude Jason Crosland called me one day and asked if I would go to Vegas for GSL worlds. I said yes and flew out the next month.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
The athletic ability of the other players is hands down the biggest difference.

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
It's hard to compare myself with anyone because I know I still have a lot of things to work on from fundamentals to staying out of my own head when i make a bad play.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
I really don't think I have any "Highlight" moments. Games are won and Lost as a team. I just try to pull my own weight and not let anyone down.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Chris Larsen was the one that made a huge impact… 2015 he came to play in a tournament near my home town… walking up to the field i noticed a giant human being in my dugout and had no clue who it was(ever though I had 2 of his bats in my bag). His first at bat he hit a ball that still hasn't landed and i took it as a challenge. I went the whole first day of the tournament not knowing who he was. When I did find out I of course had to ask him questions about how he got there, and how some small town guy like me, who's never heard of conference, make it to conference. He said, "Buddy, its all about what you put into the game. you only get what you put in." Since then I've been working my ass off.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
WORK HARD! And always have a good attitude!

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
standard grip, and i swing a 28oz, but prefer 30oz.

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
I hit the gym and take BP as much as possible.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
I'm a Carolina Panthers fan and baseball is my other favorite sport…. unless Bag toss counts… then definitely bag toss.

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
Never step on the white lines

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Purple Lamborghini by Skrillex and Rick Ross

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
I have not been playing enough to make any suggestions.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Blood N Guts. It was hands down the best time I've ever had playing ball.

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Golden Eagle Complex Reno Nevada. love playing on all turf!

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Hooters or Tilted Kilt!

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
Watching CL do a backwards roll when a chick blew middle at his face. Still caught the ball but the acrobatics made the play that much better to watch.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I'm Terrified of flying and terrified of spiders.

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
The best gift I have ever received has to be the 2016 CL22 hanging in my garage. It was a birthday gift from the man himself.
