What positions do you play and what is your best position?
I play a little of every position to help the team, but my primary and best positions would be middle or Shortstop.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Robert Blackburn. Smoothest swing I have ever seen on the diamond.

Why do you like the game of softball?
Fast paced sport, where I could still live my childhood dream of competing in tourneys at the highest of levels and meeting new people.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Mike Nino. Dude is humble and a magician with the stick.

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Jimmy because my last name is hard to pronounce for most.

I was stationed in South Korea and saw a team having tryouts. So I asked to workout with them and fell in love with the sport.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
Not in conference yet, but played a few conference tourneys. The difference I have seen is the intelligence and speed.

I study the game as well as all the top players, so that I can make myself better.

Given the opportunity to become a factory hitter for the Louisville Slugger family is definitely my highlight.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Jerry Surber. Took me under his wing, taught me the physical parts of the game and help mold me to understand the most important aspect of the game, the mental side.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Complacency and cockiness is killer. Stay hungry and don't ever feel comfortable enough to think you made it.

I have played ball for a while with Jose and the best asset besides his ability on the field is the way he can get his team moral up when we were down. And. I’m a passionate player and sometimes lose my head and he really kept me in the game. Great ability wise and great person to be around on and off the field.

My dad used to play with your dad a long time ago, I saw the name and figured it was you cause your dad had told me you were living down there. My daughter also played ball against your daughter the last couple of years too. Tell her congrats from the Fairbanks family on a great high school career, and I thought someone told me she is at FSU now, that’s great.

  8. Jeremy Moody says:

Level headed kid who is humble an works hard on his game. Can always find him at the field. Only got a chance to share a dugout with him a couple of times, but have had many positive conversations with him regarding softball. Jose loves the sport and wants to climb the ladder more than anyone I have known and is willing to do what it takes to get there. Best of luck buddy.
