What positions do you play and what is your best position?
I can play any position in the outfield. I like playing center the best.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Brett Rettenmeier is the best I have seen play because I played college ball with him and watched him grow into the player he is today.

Why do you like the game of softball?
I love competition and once my baseball career was over it was the next best thing. Love the guys I play with and look forward to it every year.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
I think Ryan McClanahan is the best up coming player I have seen so far. The guy can play anywhere in the middle infield and also lights out fielding on the mound.

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Nothing to crazy, just my last name Nuss.

What is your height and weight?
I am 6' and weigh 191 lbs

Where do you call home?
I live in Denver, Iowa

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
I spend the off weekends fishing or hanging out with my wife and two daughters.

What do you do for a living?
I am the Product Manager at Do-It Corporation. We are a fishing company the sells fishing molds and do it yourself tackle craft. We ship molds and other fishing components all over the world.

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I played Football, Basketball, Golf, and Baseball in highschool. I continued my baseball career through college.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I started playing softball after college for fun and then other upper teams saw me play and my career grew from there. To get on T's I was a pickup for a weekend tournament and have been with them since. Played with WC Monsta in 2016 for B nationals as well.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
I have never had the opportunity to play Conference so I can not answer this question. I am just looking here looking for the opportunity to play.

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
There is not.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
The 2015 ASA B National tournament with WC Monsta where we won Nationals and I received All-American honors.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
I would say Jared Tebockhorst because he got me to really focus on the game and play for the guys around me. I would also say Brett Rettenmeier and the rest of T's 13 because they are very knowledgeable about the game and give advise anytime they can.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Work at playing the game so you are ready when you are given the opportunity.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Over the bottom four finger grip with three on top. I also swing a 26 ounce.

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Workout and hit softballs. When I can get outside in the winter I like to throw.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
My favorite sports teams are the Oregon Ducks, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, and the Dallas Cowboys.
I like to play football when I can.

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
Every time up to bat I do the same warm up which ends with two kisses to my necklace that has both my daughters names on it.

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Eye of Tiger

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
ESPN Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. Very smooth outfield.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Anywhere there is a burger or steak.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
Watched a guy hit a ball in the gap and then loose his shorts rounding first heading to second and then having to slide head first into second.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I am from Iowa but I am an Oregon Ducks fan.

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
My favorite sports gift I received was actually this years Cubs World Series shirt.

Best ballplayer & team player we’ve ever seen. He’s confident and yet modest about his abilities .. but then we are Gma & Gpa. 🙂 He’s fast as lightning .. He impresses us as a father & husband too. He follows his siblings’ ballgames, is a great role model for the younger ones in particular his 2 daughters. Great support for wife as she is high school volleyball coach. He’s fast as lightning .. so much fun to watch him RUN the bases!! A young man we have reason to be proud of!

  5. Breezy23 says:

My man Jordan plays his butt off and will do anything to win! He always goes hard and is super fast! Plays the game the right way and is looking to get an opportunity at a higher level team! I’m not just saying this because he’s my best friend, the man can play! So if you are looking for a great teammate and great outfielder, he’s the man for you!
