Why do you like the game of softball?
The friendships, and the competition
Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Ryan Harvey, if he's not already there. Dude is a beast
What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Pickel. Got it at nationals in 2013. Don't like them but made true on a promise that I'd eat one if we won. We did, and I ate one.
What is your height and weight?
6 ft 1 inch 240lbs
Where do you call home?
Calgary, Alberta, Canada
What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Other than hitting gaps, I'd have to say hiking in the Rocky Mountians with my dog
What do you do for a living?
Electrical apprentice
Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Yes. I played multi sports at all levels.
How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
My left fielder from collage kept bugging me to come out and play with his league night team in a unlimited home run league. I fell in love with the game and a couple years later I was playing A. It's been a fun ride
What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
The game is a lot faster. The ball is harder than what I was use to, and the guys are bigger. I loved every min of it.
Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
Not really. I kinda have my own style. Very hard nosed player, and feel I have a lot of different shots in my bag. Hustle and heart is everything when you get to this level
What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
2013, and 2015 Canadian "A" National Champions on a team level. Playing in the 2014 Border Battle on a personal level
In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
My highschool, and collage coach Sam Dempster. I was lucky enough to have him at both levels. He tough me the game to the extent that no one else has.
What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Stay away from the BS, keep your head down, work hard and never take the game for granted

Conventional

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Cage work. The cage is my second home in the winter. There's usually a Tee not to far away either
What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Hockey is my favourite team sport obviously, being Canadian, but I have a serious passion for golf. Played professionally and it was a super fun ride
Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
I have a specific routine before every at bat that starts in the batters box. It helps me slow the game down and allows me to focus better by the time the pitch is thrown

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
That's for those who are leaders in this game to decide. I'll adapt to whatever changes are ever made
What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Men's Canadian A National Championships
What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Tournaments Ranch- Kamloops, BC Canada
Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
King Taco
What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
A friend of mine trying to have a Home Run Derby with me after a few adult beverages. I believe there video somewhere
Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
If I did that, I'd have to kill you
What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
Friendship. I've formed life long friendships from this game that I can never forget.
