Grant Grimmett

USSSA Playing History

Interview conducted in 2017

Who are you playing with in 2017?
Was with Allout, currently looking for a team to finish the year out with

2017 Free Agent –

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
I play middle, shortstop or 2nd base; middle or short being my most comfortable.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
The conference is loaded with talented guys but KP is the man right now and will be for awhile.

Why do you like the game of softball?
Gives me something to be competitive in and it's a sport where you can get better no matter what your background is.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
There are a bunch of great players popping up and he's already made it but John Williams is as talented as anyone.

What is your height and weight?
6'2 220lbs

Where do you call home?
Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
I like to think I play a lot like Steve Whaley. He fields everything at him and hits it.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Learn to base hit. The key to winning softball games.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
The New York Yankees

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
They could mix in a rake job on the fields a little more often. They always preach player safety, the infields get so choppy after a couple games, raking the fields more often would help us infielders.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Whataburger has to be #1 on my list.

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
NJCAA Gold Glove at 3rd base

  1. Justin Bonnette says:

Someone should give Grant a shot. As coach for Rip City I saw him make some sick defensive plays consistently in tough situations. And like he said, not many shortstops can also hit it 400 ft. If someone gives him a shot he won’t disappoint. Good luck G
