Why do you like the game of softball?
When you play ball for as long as I have it becomes about being with the right people that you have a good friendship with. I like to hang out and talk about the story's that we have seen and done, and mostly it is about having fun and competing.
Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
This is a trick question. Best player Brian Wegman, best infielder Brian Blount, best outfielder Matt King, best hitter Steve Dickinson, most intense players Charlie Rose and Tommy Thompson. It is hard because I've seen so many great players over the years so the list is longer.
Where do you call home?
I live in New Bern NC, raised in Ohio.
What do you do for a living?
With the economy the way it is anything to survive, carpenter by trade.
Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Played football in high school, two years in college. Played baseball in the Hawaiian leagues while I was in the service.
How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
Got my start by playing on base in Iwakuni Japan, then played fastpitch off base. When I got out I met Steve Dickinson and the rest is history.
Never played above 'A' but I was always with a group of guys every year that played 'A' or 'B'. That was for about ten years.
What position do you play?
When I was younger it was everywhere, now its down to a few.
3rd, 1st, catcher, eh, and pitch.
What batting grip do you use?
Two fingers under the knob and overlap two fingers, so I hold the bat with four fingers.
What is your favorite sports team?
Red Wings, Michigan football, Tigers
What is your favorite sport other than softball?
Hockey or something that's real competitive, World Cup, Olympics.
Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
I believe you get what you put into it. BP and hard work goes along way.
What is your most memorable softball moment?
This is a hard one, there is so many good moments. But it is playing ball with my dad before he passed on that to me is the best.
Is slowpitch softball a sport or a game?
Slow pitch to me is a game. That is why people practice to become better.
What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
I think that all 'A' teams should have players from three a joining states, 'B' teams two, and major should be unlimited homeruns, and go back to hitters.
What is your favorite non-World tournament?
I've played in all of them but to me it was the last chance when you had to earn a berth to the world series, they split the bracket. Those were some good battles.
What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
Besides the lollipop with Tommy Thompson, I was playing in columbus in WSL Major and our pitcher stops pitching and is walking around the mound as if he was looking for something (we all thought of a contact lens) the umpire waited a few minutes then called time and walked out to him and said what are you looking for. He looked at the ump and smiled and said my tooth. It was so funny and we found his tooth. (Jason McCrae was the pitcher):
We were playing in Sterling Hts and Kyle Yerkes was pitching in the championship game against Freeze and he runs off the field real fast and everybody was shaking there head like what is up, about ten minutes goes and he reappeared and the ump said what happened and Kyle said with a straight face I had to poop. Game resumed.
Who are you playing with in 2012? B&B Sears So far it has been by committees one Tourney with Gas It (good group of guys) then with BB Sears, had a blast with them and they play like the old North End Dogs.
I would like to thank all my sponsors that made it possible for me to play. Pats Light Hauling, Bellman, Bob Lewis, Steve Butler, Burkes, Oakland Plumbing, Vince Bisbee, Johny Jabs, Frankensteins, Doc, Creative Walls, Eric Weller, Charlie Rose, Paul Syroka, Hennesseys, Jeds, Yerkes Hardwood Flooring, Dave Humps rip.
I hope I remembered them all. But with all the mergers you forget some.

Dave was a great guy! Terrible news!
I had a chance to play with Dave in the Marine Corps while stationed in Hawaii. Since we both got out, I had a chance to meet up with him a couple times on the ball field at Liberty in Sterling Heights, MI. Probably only been a year or two since we last talked. Crazy to think that we are old enough for this stuff to happen, old friends you think will live for ever. RIP Bro
Rest In Peace Big Fella! Played with him some on Team AH/Easton. Super nice guy who could hit it long and well. Prayers for the family in this time of need.
