Interview conducted on 10/20/2017 updated on 2/25/2022

Who are you playing with in 2023?
2022 Free Agent – 480-993-7736   coreyjemiller@me.com

2022 S&E, Bay Area     2021 Bay Area Legends

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Pitch/Infield.

Willing to really play any position needed including OF

Why do you like the game of softball?
I am extremely competitive and playing allows me to stay active and complete at the same time. I also like the fast pace of the game.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Jordan Spaulding. I played with and against him the last few years, and to be able to go from D, to B, to Major in 3 years is incredible. He works hard and deserves it.

What is your height and weight?
6'2 220

Where do you call home?
Phoenix, AZ

What do you do for a living?
IT Internal Auditor

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I played Baseball and Basketball in high school. I played for the ASU Club Baseball team but nothing serious.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
The first year I ever played tournament ball was with some buddies from high school and college, we didn't really know what we were doing, but ended up coming in third place in E Worlds in Vegas. My dad pitched for us at the time so being able to experience that with him was even better.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
This is my Dad by far. He has taught me everything I know. I definitely wouldn't be where I am today (in life in general) without him.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Eagerly and actively listening to all advice anyone who has been successful has for me.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Slight Overlap – 26/27

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Being in AZ it is nice to not truly have an off season. Being able to take BP outside, field some grounders, and play in some back yarders definitely helps.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Dallas Cowboys.

ASU/Pitt for college ball

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
So many choices… Possibly something from the band Kansas

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
I would say Toys for Tots in CA. It is awesome to see all the talent out there, and usually spread out on different teams. Plus, it is all for a good cause

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
I would probably say Disney. That place is pretty incredible.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
YELP. I love to find some local spots with good ratings and check them out.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I graduated HS at 5'8 – 135lbs and finally started to grow in college.

  2. Gambill says:

Good kid here. Knows how to play the game well. Really good pitcher

  3. Mike Nino says:

very good player from Arizona. plays hard and has the attitude of a winner . not a bad pick up at all

  4. AttorneyAtLarge says:

Dangerous guy to have on a team, although individually talented. Has been known to bend and/or break rules, even going so low as to cheat in house leagues. His main team just had to forfeit their playoff tournament this week for using illegal players. Buyer beware, as they say.

    • T. Espland says:

Oh snap! Does he have any unpaid parking tickets either? Cheated on a test in college? Doesn’t push his shopping carts back in the cart return?
It takes some serious Haterade to comment on an old free agent page posted by Dw in Oct 2017 about a guy in June 2018 who has been on a team for the entire 2018 season to date. Dudes a great teammate and was willing to be a team guy and play a backup role but has pitched his way onto the field on our B team. If you simply don’t like somebody maybe just keep it to yourself McGruff the crime lawyer.

  5. Mikey Ho says:

Top 2 pitcher in AZ along with Nino. Somehow gets overlooked for Mr. 400 Flores (aka Sam Bradford). Elite in the field too, and loves to win

  6. Jerk Meat says:

Sub par Monday night league player, but good at conference so far
    Posts good memes.

  7. Nick B says:

What T. Espland said. Corey Miller is a dirtbag only in the best sense of the word! Great guy to be around and learn from.
