2018 FREE AGENT – A3demarini@gmail.com

What positions do you play and what is your best position?

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Tough Choice but Filip Washington All around is ridiculous. There are so many great players I have been fortunate to watch and play with.

Why do you like the game of softball?
It is a great getaway from the real world, while allowing me to compete and play the game.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Kenny Chavez and Daniel Cayton are my 2 up and comers.
Kenny has crazy consistency with power and Daniel has the all around game with great glove on the dirt and can hit it!

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Lightskin, Big something, And The Barber because I'm big and #TeamLightskin plus I normally bring my clippers everywhere to keep my team looking good.

What is your height and weight?
6'3.  305

Where do you call home?
Sacramento, CA

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
If I'm not playing ball, I'm somewhere with my son or family. Watching him play or Barbecuing at home watching sports.

Construction

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Baseball, Basketball in high school, and Baseball through my 4 years in college.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I started locally with Big Steve at a back yarder on Summer Break from college. HUFF and Brandon Traylor dragged me to the Seattle Superdraft and I had a good weekend. Then, Rusty Kawachi gave me a shot at the Dual with Shut D. I went as DH and ended up pitching 14 games. GTS then picked me up and the rest just fell into place.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
The complaining and the speed of the game is the biggest difference I notice.

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
Not really but I definitely have taking certain pitches or swings from players. Thanks CL and Mooch.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
Definitely pitching in my first major this year and getting the win!

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Probably Rusty and Hoshaw because if they didnt believe in me I wouldnt be where I'm at.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Travel and stay humble because there is always someone watching.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
2 finger overlap and 28oz End Load

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
BP accuracy trying to keep the field open at all times.

Dallas Cowboys and Football but nothing beats playoff Baseball.

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
I don't move during rallys thats for sure.

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Cant Kill Hyphy

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
I feel floating rubber for the pitcher would make the game safer and allow the pitcher to be more creative and balance the game out.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Seattle Superdraft and T4T because you get grest competition with a fun environment.

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?

Brandon Traylor trying to field a ground ball
