Who are you playing with in 2016?

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Outfield and first but I'm most comfortable at center.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Offensively Steven Lopez, Johnny JB Bailey and defensively Westy Guill AJ Montano.

Why do you like the game of softball?
Givea me a chance to travel the country make new friends and compete against the best out there.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Matt Fox and Timothy Martinez have as much power as anyone in utrip and Ryan McClanahan and Isaac Gonzalez have some sick gloves up the middle.

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
CC because of my initials.

What is your height and weight?
6ft and 170lbs

Where do you call home?
California will always be home to me but I currently reside in Phoenix,AZ.

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Lift weights, bp, or my favorite spending time with my first newly born son Aedan Mays.

What do you do for a living?
Currently training in Arizona Department Of Corrections

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Played baseball in high school and some independent ball in Mexico.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
Started played with a local group spobsored by Jack Estrada called my MyAutoJack. Played a couple seasons of D and C ball before getting picked up late in 2014 to play with OC Swats. Last year was called back to play B ball and took it all!

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
The speed of the game and the talent level.

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
No one I can think of.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
Me and my Yuma boy Matt Fox delivering in the clutch in the bottom of the 7th like every guy dreams of. I got a double and Fox traded me places with a shot in the gap as I scored the game winning run to win B Worlds!

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
John Gresham, AJ Montano, and Ronni Salcedo have really helped me up my game to another level and always strive to be better.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Being 22 myself Im still figuring it out but I guess stay humble and ALWAYS hustle everything out.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
I've always liked heavier bats since baseball so I like 28 balanced or 27 endloaded bats and just pinky off the knob.

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Work on making my game better in offseason tourneys and lift to get stronger and faster.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Baseball is my favorite sport but I am a San fran giants and miners fan. Basketball I'm a bulls fan.

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
I mark a cross behind 2nd base when I go to the outfield and also next to the batters box before I bat.

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
I rep that west by Ice Cube

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
I think they are doing a great job for the most part.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Toys for tots because its always packed and filled with great talent new and old.

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
Pioneer Park here in Peoria, AZ because its 325 with double fencing which is perfect for conference play and the infield and outfield are both well kept.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Anywhere with pizza wings and beer.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
I saw a guy foul out on a full swing and the ball went through his legs.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I'm a musician.

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
I became a die hard san fran giants fan after my dad took me out to watch barry bonds play marc mcguire and the cards at candlestick park on my 5th birthday.

    Great guy! 100% all the time. Great team player, have been playing against this kid for 5 years and he has always impressed me.
