Who are you playing with in 2017?
Free Agent – brookcrawford.1@gmail.com

Played with USSSA C team MJ Lowe out of Columbus, OH in 2015. Previously played for 3rd Street in 2014.

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
I have played all OF positions as well as 1B and C. My best position is 1B, but I can run in the OF if needed.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
I've only been around upper level softball for about 4 years, but Bryson Baker is one of the favorites to watch. He hits for power, can play anywhere on the field, and plays the game right.

Why do you like the game of softball?
I love the competition and being able to be around other guys with the same drive to compete. Since finishing college football, it has been a great replacement to staying competitive. There's always something to work on and improve and seeing those improvements are rewarding.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
There is a lot of great talent out there and seeing people improve every year is always a great sight for the game. Too many to really choose one, though.

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Crawdad is a family nickname. When I started playing, a lot of the guys knew my dad that played and that's where I got that one.

What is your height and weight?
6'2" 215 lbs.

Where do you call home?
Columbus, Ohio

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Checking out a Baseball game, spending time with family back in Findlay, OH, hanging around with friends, or checking out a country concert around town.

What do you do for a living?
Registered Nurse for OhioHealth

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Played Football, Basketball, and Baseball in High School. 10 Varsity letters over 4 years. Played college baseball (1B) for one year and college football (WR) for 5 years.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
An old high school football coach asked me to come out and play on a league team near my college town. I played in a couple weekend tournaments, then got my start with Bellas/Mojo at the D level back in 2012. Been working on my game ever since and working to move up and play higher competition levels every year.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
The speed of the game is probably the biggest difference next to the overall talent level of the players. Every weekend demands your best effort and if you can't bring that, it'll be a rough weekend for you.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
26.5 or 27 oz End load with my ring finger on the knob.

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
A lot of strength and flexibility training as well as BP sessions starting in Dec/Jan. Tough to find places to hit in Ohio in the winter.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
I'm always watching a Cleveland team: Browns/Cavs/Indians. Football is my go-to when softball isn't available.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
The Smoky is a great atmosphere and the power display is always interesting. Definitely one of the best tournaments I've been a part of.
