Who are you playing with in 2012?
Fence Brokers/Gametime Supply

Why do you like the game of softball?
It gives me a way to still be competitive and have met some great people and made some lifelong friends because of this game.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
John Glidewell – miss ya buddy

What is your nickname in softball?

GIG

Where do you call home?
Hot Springs, AR

What do you do for a living?
I work with my dad.  We own Gigerich Electrical, Inc. based here in Hot Springs.  We are a large commerical outfit that does work all over the country.  We currently have about 100 employees.

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro ?

Played Football, Basketball, and Baseball in High School.  Played baseball at The University of Arkansas-Little Rock (UALR) and The University of Central Oklahoma (UCO).  Then played one season with an Independent team.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I started playing in 2001 after I got finished with baseball.  Started playing locally and then in 2005, started playing with Chris Walker and FBI.  I just want to say thanks to him and there is not a better sponsor out there than Chris is.

What position do you play?
Infield but mostly at First Base

What batting grip do you use?
I use a standard baseball grip.

What ounce bat do you use?
26 and 27

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Try to work out as much as possible and hit when you can.  It is getting harder each year because I have 3 little ones at the house.

What is you favorite sports team?
Arkansas Razorbacks and St Louis Cardinals

What is your favorite sport other than softball?
Golf, Baseball, and Football.

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
Not really

What is your most memorable softball moment?

I don’t know if I have just one moment, but the FBI team that we had in 2010 was by far the best team I have ever played on and we finished 3rd at the USSSA Major.  The chemistry that we had on that team was awesome.

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Limit the number of major players.

What is your favorite non-world Tournament?
I would have to say 2 of the tournaments we play here in Arkansas.  The Tony Jude, which is for a great cause and the other is the Tournament of Champions.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
In 2006 we made it to Sunday of a Major and we played I believe 3 games and then had to go straight to the airport to fly home.  Zach Keene took
his shoes off and his feet were bright red.  All he had to wear home were his flip flops.  Zach walking through the airport with bright red feet was priceless.

DW, thanks for all that you do for upper level softball !!!
