What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Pitcher

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Dennis Rulli

Why do you like the game of softball?
Keeps me in shape being around all the guys love competition going to get to play with my son 2015 season

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Nic Santana great attitude loves the game has all the tools plays the game right

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Papaw probably because I am and going to be 53 years old

What is your height and weight?
5'9" 210 lb

Where do you call home?
Mount Orab, Ohio east of Cincinnati

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Coaching my grand son and playing golf

What do you do for a living?
Machinist we repair jet engine parts

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Baseball football wrestling

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
Got my start my senior year tossing in the back yard with my girl friend now wife.  Guy next door asked if I play baseball, said yes he asked if I wanted to play on Fridays. Got to the upper level started pitching beat good teams then they ask you to play just worked my way up

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
Competition you could walk through a non conference tourney you don't get many games off in the conference anyone can beat you

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
Jim Burbrink "Birdie" as everyone called him he played for a lot of great teams

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
Wow I would say beating Resmondo in St Louis on a 300 foot fence then almost again in Connecticut but we had a great year with Columbus Pipe in 2008.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Mike Smith coach and player for our Freeze team I tried to hit everything as hard as I could he told me to guide the ball through a hole or gap my average has been going up since then

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Hustle play hard don't get down on yourself. If you get a chance to move up take it your friends will always be there work at it hit Bp take grounders

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Bottom hand half off the knob i use a 28 ounce balance z3000 Louisville slugger

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Hit in cages run workout

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Reds, Bengals football

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
Have none

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Way to young to feel this damn old or can't stop

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Maybe courtesy runner for the pitcher so he can get his shine guards on we have hurry up rule but hitters can take all day to get in the box

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Smoky Mountain Classic atmosphere just fun

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
I like Disney don't get bad hops just nice fields of course the stadium is awesome

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Wing house

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
Seeing one of the major guys get called out on strikes they would never take a strike

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I'm 52 1/2 years old still play against the best players in the country at the most dangerous position.  Been maried 33 years have two great kids 28 and 26 two grand sons 7 and 3 been playing softball for 33 years

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
Gave my son a Louisville Slugger bat with his name on it his last college baseball game. For me getting two watches for the all conference selection

      I feel Bobby had his best year ever in 2014 and in particular hit it very very well.

    Bobby is such a great guy and one of the reasons our sport is so special. Great competitor and still mixes it up with the best teams. I thought he was 63 though – so he is still a kid – we can try and beat him without feeling bad about it. Have a great holiday season Bob and see you on the field next Spring.

    He’s a great competitor and a good example of what hard work and dedication will get you. He plays the game right and shows a lot of respect to the game and how and what got him where he’s at. For sure Hall of Famer!!
