What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Pitcher and Outfield

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Bryson Baker is most definitely the best pound for pound player in the conference! Greg Connell is definitely one of the hardest hitters out there, and of course the game changer Andy Purcell!

Why do you like the game of softball?
Keeps me competitive!

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Freddie Bynum! Hands downs. Dude mashes and is your best infielder if he's in the infield and your best outfielder if he's out there!

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Youngin' – I'm only 21
AG- my initials

What is your height and weight?
6'2, 200lbs

Where do you call home?
Erwin, TN

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Hiking! I live in the Great Smokey Mountains.

What do you do for a living?
Finishing my education to become a History Professor!

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Played basketball,baseball, and golf in high school! Was blessed enough to pitch 2 years at Walters State Community College and blew my chances of getting drafted when I broke my elbow last year!

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
My dad always played upper ball so I've been around it my whole life! I was blessed enough for Stevie Hildebran to give me the opportunity to play last year in Panama Worlds and play good enough to play part of the season with Worsham!

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
I feel like the biggest difference in the conference are the 6 major teams! Outside those 6 teams, I feel like everyone is on a level playing field especially on the 300ft fields!

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
I love the way Travis Clark pitches, and I like the way Mike Umschied plays the outfield and hits the right center gap!

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Stevie Hildebran helped me get to the conference level, and Chuck Koone took me under his wing and taught me how to play at the upper level!

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Always work harder than the guy next to you!

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Drop a pinky, and either a 26 or 26.5

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Bp, bp, and bp!

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Clemson Tigers and Boston Red Sox. I love to watch college football!

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
Clean out the box before every at bat!

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Elvis Presley- Little Less Conversation

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Smokey! The atmosphere!

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Chilis

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
That I'm a die hard Clemson fan!

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
A football signed by Dabo Swinney

    Austin is a great player and young man, will be a great asset for any team!
    Hell of a pitcher and can play the outfield with the best of them with an above average arm!
