Who are you playing with in 2014?
No one right now. My family is adopting. I may pick up next year. When you hit .800 in the Major you don't worry

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
1st Base

Why do you like the game of softball?
Competition and fun!  When you get older to be able to compete at the highest level. It is a challenge mentally and physically! I love to have a good time though

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Kyle Pearson because he has it all. Speed, Power, Base hitting ability, Arm.  Most of all he is a great teammate

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Urb

What is your height and weight?
6'2 225

Where do you call home?
Odenville, Al.

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Coaching my son or just coaching.  Hanging with the family

What do you do for a living?
Assistant Athletic Director at Hoover High School in Birmingham, Al

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
Yes I played baseball at Wallace Hanceville CC and South Alabama

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
My brother got me playing in high school. Won Isa D when I was 17. Upper level just came after years of playing

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
Practice.  You better hit BP if you want to hit the pump faking,

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
Not really

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
Winning ASA in Oklahoma City. I have a lot of memories and met lots of great people over the years

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
I would say my brother Tommy Urban just because we got to play together and we motivated each other. 

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Keep playing. Get picked up. Don't be so ego centered that you can't sit and earn your time.  You will earn more respect and opportunities being a good teammate

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Baseball and 28-30 ounce. Usually need load.

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Hit and stay in shape

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Reds

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
I have millions from my warmup to where I stand shaking hands.  They all depend on whether we win and whether I hit,

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
George Jones. He stopped loving her today.  That was my dad's favorite song

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Do double points for C and D teams to make conference tournaments bigger. Give 3 games guarantee in bigger tournaments

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
"Danny's
Mullet
Music City – long ago Logo played Jeanshoppe 52-49 also I got 30 something hits in a row.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Any place you go as team. I like food so that doesn't matter. The fun you have does!

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?

    I can honestly say…some of the funniest things that I have ever seen on or around a softball field…have included Andy Urban. Lets just say that several umpires, during the coin flip, have gotten a lot more than they bargained for…LOL!!!

    andy is just one of the nicest guys in softball and I have enjoyed talking with him at the Danny’s and the Mullet. I understand why he loves those two tournaments….the man kills it when he comes to the beaches. Great fellow and I wish him the very best in softball and life.
