Who are you playing with in 2016?

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
I currently play Shortstop but can play anywhere in the infield.

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
The best player that i would say i have seen play would be Luis Reyna, i enjoy watching him play and learning from him and the way he plays the game.

Why do you like the game of softball?
I enjoy playing the game of softball because of the camaraderie in the teams and the fact that i can further my baseball career in something a little different.  I enjoy the intensity of the game and the idea of getting to battle with friends.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
from the players that i have seen i would say the the best up and coming players i have seen are Pearson of SIS and Reyna of Resmondo.

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
The guys on my team call me Sandy which is short for my last name Sandoval

What is your height and weight?
I am 6'0" and i currently weigh 235 lbs

Where do you call home?
I currently live in Murfreesboro, TN but am from Albuquerque, NM where i grew up.

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
My favorite way to spend the off weekend would be spending time with my wife and son and working on my game.

What do you do for a living?
I am a Caregiver for a quadriplegic disabled Veteran.

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I did play baseball in High School and College i received a full ride scholarship to play shortstop in Colorado for Junior College, then received a full ride to attend school at a Division 1 in Nashville, TN called Lipscomb University.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I got my start by my brother who introduced me to a C class team out of Dickson, TN and i was picked up by them and played with them in 2014, we won two worlds that year.  I got to the upper level by playing with TKO out of KY and played with Clayton Shaw who put my name out there and i was invited to go play with Slayer this year.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
I believe the biggest difference is the speed of the game, i enjoy the fact that there is a higher level of competition and higher skill level in players.

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
I would say that i can not really compare myself to anyone yet as i haven't played enough up here, but i hope to be considered to have the range and glove of Reyna, Lloyd and DDIII.

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
I would say my career highlight so far would have been playing Resmondo in Indy and going 4 for 4 on Purcell with 6 RBI and in that same game made a diving play on Bubba Mack between short and third and threw him out at first.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
I would say that someone who has had a big impact on my play would be Clayton Shaw, playing with him a bit he has taught me a lot about the game that i never knew both offensively and defensively.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
The advice i would give would be to work hard and play even harder, don't take a play off because that one play can change a lot in the game.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
i just use a traditional batting grip and i swing a 26-27 oz bat.

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
to prepare for the next season i take a lot of BP and work on my fielding quite  bit. I enjoy working on my craft by taking a lot of reps on both sides of the ball.

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
I favorite sports teams are the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Steelers.  I would say that my absolute favorite sport would be Baseball.

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
Not really any superstitions but i do have a routine before i hit by wiping off the plate with my foot.

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Danza Kuduro by Don Omar

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Not really any improvements that i can think of.

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
I really enjoyed the HOF Dual.

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
the best complex I've played at would be the fields and stadium in Kissimmee.

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
The best place to eat would be really anywhere.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
I would say the funniest thing I've seen would be seeing one of our bigger guys running the bases and try to take the extra base and slip around the base path.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
something about myself that most wouldn't know about me is the fact that i work hard in everything i do i enjoy pressure and pressure situations and love to prosper in those situations.

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
My favorite sports gift i received was my two world championship rings we won in 2014.
