Who are you playing with in 2015?
I have played with Xtreme/ Miken for the past 5 seasons.

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
I am a pitcher, I can also play OF if needed

Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Hard to not give this one to Andy Purcell, guy is the biggest game changer in softball that I have seen in all my years.

Why do you like the game of softball?
It has been apart of my life since I was 14, It has allowed me to see most of the US and also brought me to the Piff in Canada, Also it has allowed me to meet a lot of people that I consider life long friends.

Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
I'm not too sure on this one, but just want to let everyone know that MN softball has a lot of untapped potential just waiting to burst.

What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Lew or Lew10, nickname given to me from way back in my early years, Or Johnny Mcgraw calling me Little Dragon in Seattle one year out at the dual.

What is your height and weight?
5'8" 190lbs

Where do you call home?
Blaine, Minnesota

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
At my cabin in northern MN, hanging with my wife and son. Also playing golf or coaching Hockey.

What do you do for a living?
I am a Health and Safety Specialist for Cintas 1st aid and safety division.

Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I played Football/Hockey and Tennis, but in Champlin, MN Kids start playing softball in high school at a pretty competitive rate.

How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I got my start at 14 and have been to the worlds every year since. I have played in 16 and under worlds 18 and under worlds and played at every level up to A, I got my start from Pat Oconnell and playing for Kevitt Easton. That was my first look at pretty competitive ball and I got my start in the conf. thru Xtreme/Combat and Mike Mcgowan the best sponsor in softball.

What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
How good EVERY player is, as a pitcher its nice to know where outs are in lineups and at the conf. level there are not too many of those, gotta work for every out.

Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
I think as a pitcher pretty hard not to model your game after Andy and guys like Mooch .

What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
Being named Tourney MVP at this seasons Atlanta Major, also being the MVP in back to back tournaments last season at the Firemen's and Frolics, 2 big MN tourneys.

In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
Jerry Tollefson and Mike McGowan. To great sponsors who I owe everything in ball too. Great guys and allowed me to play at high levels. Also Pat Oconnell for being a tough coach who taught me the game and to respect the game.

What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Work hard and hope you are lucky enough to play for Mike McGowan and Xtreme.

What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
26oz with a pinky finger under

What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
GYM and play lots of hockey

What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Love hockey and the MN WILD, but favorite team is the NY Yankees

Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
everything. I believe in superstition and I have too many to say.

What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Magic Stick, by lil kim and 50

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
more HRs so players stay outta the middle 🙂

What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Dudley and Firemen's in MN great crowds and lots of fun

What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
LV field of dreams

Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Any place with Kyle Decker as he knows all the GREAT Spots

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
Too many to count over the years and dont feel like throwing anyone under the bus.

Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I am a youth hockey coach and I love the game of hockey. Love to golf and play all sports.

What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
I was given actual dirt from the old Yankee Stadium
