The 35th Annual Dudley is this coming Friday – Sunday in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota outside of Minneapolis.  This year there are 29 teams including 8 from the Nationwide Conference USSSA and 1 Major team (Resmondo).

The 'AA', 'A', 'B' teams will all battle for a shot at Resmondo who is vulnerable on 300 foot fields but did get the tournament win in Columbus, Indiana a month ago.  It looks like the weather should be good and this is Warren Bellm's last year running the tournament and we thank Warren for all of his years and hard work putting this tournament on.  Warren built one of the greatest softball tournaments in the games history.  Check out some of the history of the tournament listed at the bottom of this article.  The tournament began in 1983 and has been the showcase of Minnesota softball for 35 years.

USSSA will stream the main two fields only on USSSALive.com as much as possible and the chat room will be up.

Thursday there are all star games followed by the annual home run derby!

I (DW) will not be in attendance.  Happy Father's Day to all!

Weekend Weather looks decent

SheaNation is our guest picker again this week:

This weekend the 35th Annual Dudley/Budweiser major only has 8 Nationwide Conference USSSA teams in attendance but stiff competition with 1 major, 4 AA, 1 A, 2 B teams and 21 local teams looking to win.  The favorite Resmondo/O.A.Apparel/H.Auto/Special with 2016 World Series MVP and Long Haul Bomber participant Kyle Pearson will receive 189 points for the win giving them their 6th tournament catapulting them into 2nd place in the Conference USSSA standings.  The other teams looking to upset the favorite are: #1 overall seed in the tournament Worth Astros/K&G/Klutch; local Minnesota Conference USSSA team Xtreme/Miken/ASP/Athlon; Precision/3rd Street/GBrand/Easton and Nightmare/Miken.  Worth Astros, Xtreme/Miken and Nightmare/Miken already played 6 tournaments and looking to finish in the top 4 to drop their lowest score.

Predictions: The final 4 undefeated should be 2 exciting matchups: Resmondo versus Xtreme and Precision versus Worth Astros.  Resmondo is the favorite to beat Xtreme and the winner of the Precision/Worth Astros game.  In the loser's bracket Precision versus Xtreme can play if both teams reach the final 4. The Worth Astros versus the winner of Precision/Xtreme will also be another good game to watch.  All American Restoration/BBS/Monsta a local team from Brooklyn Park, MN will be my sleeper team but received a bad draw by possibly facing Xtreme/Miken in their second game.

It will be an exciting tournament to watch in anticipation of which teams will get upset.

SheaNations Final Picks are:
1.  Resmondo/O.A.Apparel/H.Auto/Special
2.  Xtreme/Miken/ASP/Athlon
3.  Worth Astros/K&G/Klutch
4.  Precision/3rd Street/GBrand/Easton
5.  Nightmare/Miken
    Seminoles/TPS/NACSF

Old Scout Pollers went with the favorite Resmondo

  1. Jeff says:

Happy Father’s Day DW. Wonder why only one major team. Usually all the major teams play here don’t they?

    • DW says:

      Thanks.

Tournaments go through cycles and the Major teams decided to go to the Seattle Dual this year so that starts on Thursday at noon so travel on Wednesday for most players which would make it tough to go to the Dudley then Seattle back to back.

  2. Jeff says:

Oh ok. I forgot Seattle was a dual and welcome. See ya possibly at both Cincy and Columbus. Columbus for sure
