20 of the top 30 teams in the Nationwide Conference USSSA points standings will be in Columbus, Ohio for this weekends Major event.  The tournament will begin on Friday night at 5 PM eastern time and I should be able to livestream every game on USSSALive.com.  The chat room will also be up here at SoftballCenter.com to give updates and talk about the tournament.  A few teams are still fighting to stay in the top 16 as you can see at this points scenarios link.  Pauer Sports, TG Brand, and La Famiglia all try to break into the top 16 with Baugh Ford, Rapid Fire, Nightmare, Bay Area Legends, and Premier trying to hold onto the 5 final spots.  The "Last Chance" tournament as it is called calculates the Conference points based on the number of Conference teams on the team list 14 days prior to the event.  They do this because so many teams add or drop the event at the last minute.  This years tournament is based on 28 Conference teams so the points are (28 x 4) + 150 = 262.

The tournament is played on high school baseball sized fields and artificial turf infields all of which favor #1 Resmondo.  #2 Smash It is still playing without pitcher Andy Purcell.  And #3 Dan Smith has released shortstop Steve Whaley and picked up former Thunder slugger Kevin Kennington.

Also on the line is the batting title as Smash It Sports Kyle Pearson leads the league at 224-275 .815, Dan Smith's Davis Bilardello is 2nd at 264-328 .805, Resmondo's Travis Clark is 3rd at 187-235 .796, and Pure Sports Bradley Carlsen is 4th at 205-258 .795.  Also in the hunt is Resmondo's Greg Connell .794 and Nightmare's Tommy Melton at .788.

NOTE: the roster deadline for Conference teams to add players is Friday, August 3rd

Here is the team breakdown:
 – 29 Total Teams
 – 23 Are Nationwide Conference USSSA Teams
 – 3 Major teams
 – 8 'AA' teams
 – 10 'A' teams
 –  7 'B' teams

Of course the SoftballCenter.com chat room will also be up and running all weekend.

USSSALive.com will livestream 4 fields F14, F15, F16, F17 all weekend starting at 5 PM eastern time on Friday.

Shea Nations Picks

This weekend the Columbus major has 29 teams in attendance and it is the last chance to qualify for the Major World Series with all 3 major, 8 AA, 10 A, 2 B and 6 local teams.  The Conference USSSA points leader and #1 overall seed Resmondo/RDD/H.auto/All IN/Sprizzi/ is the favorite to win. The other teams looking to upset the favorite are:
Dan Smith/Menosse/Steven Smith and Smash It/Thunder/Backman/TDB/Miken.

Columbus Predictions:  The final 4 undefeated should be: Pure versus Resmondo and Smash It versus Dan Smith.   With the #1 seed clinched for the Conference Championship I predict Resmondo to rest some players and we could see Smash It versus Pure in the undefeated game.  In the loser’s bracket Dan Smith cannot drop below the 3 seed but can surpass Smash It by placing higher.  I predict the 5th place game to be Resmondo versus Rack's and Dan Smith versus Xtreme.  If all holds true like predicted then Rack's and Dan Smith would play for 4th place.

Shea's Final Picks for the Columbus Major:
1. Smash It/Thunder/Backman/TDB/Miken
2. Dan Smith/Menosse/Steven Smith
3. Pure Sports/ Monsta
4. RACK'S/WORTH ASTROS/KLUTCH/TROUPE
5. Resmondo/RDD/H.auto/All IN/Sprizzi/
    TDB/FAI/Klutch/Miken

Half of Oldscout pollsters are going with Resmondo

#15 307-359-359-356-312
