2017 Conference Championship and Last Chance Qualifier Bracket Link

The 2017 Nationwide Conference USSSA Championships take place this coming weekend, September 1-3 in Viera, Florida at the new USSSA headquarters the Space Coast Stadium complex.  The stadium and one of the fields in the baseball quad will host the Conference Championship with the top 8 teams in the country (#1 SMASH IT/SCENE, #2 RESMONDO/O.A.APPAREL, #3 SIS/THUNDER/MIKEN, #4 DAN SMITH/MENOSSE, #5 WORTH ASTROS, #6 NEWBREED/GTS/DEMARINI, #7 RACKS/SONNY'S/ATHLON, #8 NIGHTMARE/MIKEN).    A second tournament known as the "Conference Qualifier" will be held back on the new baseball quad and will have 9 teams with 3 of them (TDB/TMSPORTS, CLASSIC GLASS, WILEYS SUPREME) fighting to earn the berth as the #17 seed at the USSSA Major World Series by finishing as the highest non qualified team in the tournament.  Both tournaments are a 3 game guarantee format.  

POINTS:  Many over the years have said that the conference championships don't mean anything but for many teams it could be the most important tournament other than qualifying for the major because you can move up or lose your current seed for the Major.  The Scene/HDLNS who is currently 12th in points and is not coming to the tournament will probably drop to 15th if Bay Area, Bad Draw, and OA Apparel all finish at least 8th or higher out of 9 teams.  

Last year Backman who was the regular seasons points champions also won the Conference Championship tournament over Smash It Sports.  This year the new Smash It Sports/Scene is the favorite but it is on a stadium field and there are a lot of teams looking to gain momentum going into the Major.  SIS/Scene has also won an incredible 27 games and 5 tournaments in a row.  Of course it is the first ever slowpitch tournament at the new complex so there is some prestige in winning such a star studded event.

The two tournaments both start Friday at 3 PM eastern time and teams play into the night Friday as many as 3 games, then resume early Saturday morning into Saturday afternoon.  Then the tournament pauses for the Annual Nationwide Conference Awards banquet and finishes up on Sunday.

The new Dudley Stadium ZN which was used at the Hall of Fame Classic will be used at the Conference Championships.  The fence distances on all fields are 325-365-385-365-325 and play "short" except when the wind is blowing in.  All of the fields are artificial turf.

The stadium field will be livestreamed at USSSALive.com.  The back quad of baseball fields will be livestreamed if power is available.  It is my understanding that with the new lights and all of the construction going on that the power has yet to be switched on.

If the teams trying to qualify lose out in the same spot in the bracket, the tie breaker is current Conference points.
