2016 MLK Classic tournament recap!

2016 MLK Classic!

1st Place – Prime Time

Once again the MLK Classic proved a great kickoff to the BSC season. There were plenty of major players in attendance on both the men and womens side of the ball. Even had conference umpires calling the games on the mens side this year. Filip Washington, Robert Knoblaugh, Shawn Jones, Kyndrich Doggett were some of the conference players playing on various teams this weekend. In the Mens Comp Division, a blast from the past, Street Stars re-emerged on the scene and made some serious noise all weekend long. Almost knocking off Prime Time Easton out of the gate, losing 20-19, after leading the entire contest. Perennial BSC Powerhouse Cuttin' Up went 2 and 2 on the weekend, losing to Street Stars and Prime Time to finish 3rd on the weekend. This set up another matchup of Prime Time Easton and Street Stars in the final. After another strong effort, Prime Time once again proved to be too much for Street Stars and won the tournament going undefeated on the weekend.

On the Womens side of the ball, there were two womens Majors teams in attendance, Ladies Cuttin' Up Easton/Adidas and Miken SSE. Derby Girls Dara Toman and Julie Wiesneski also was in attendance this weekend. As many expected, Ladies Cuttin' Up Easton and Miken SSE played each other in the championship round. But this was after a rather shaky start, by Ladies Cuttin' Up Easton/Adidas, who lost their first first 2 games of the tournament in the 3GG bracket. MDE/Deal With It out of Jacksonville, Fl made a nice showing on the weekend Knocking off LCU Easton Adidas early before eventually falling to them and Miken SSE to finish 3rd on the weekend. Once LCU Easton/Adidas found their traction, there was no stopping them en route to the championship. Defeating Miken SSE twice to capture the crown.
