The 2015 Nationwide Conference USSSA Championships take place this coming weekend, September 4-6 in Kissimmee, Florida at the USSSA headquarters (Osceola County Stadium and surrounding baseball fields.  This years tournament features the GSL Major bracket where the top 8 teams in the country square off in a 3 game guarantee bracket.  There are big points on the line and should either #1 Smash It Sports or #2 Resmondo win, they would have the #1 seed for the USSSA Major World Series.  Smash It Sports will also lock up the #1 seed if Resmondo does not win the tournament and Smash It finishes within 1 position of Resmondo.  Action kicks off on on the Stadium field at 5 PM eastern time this Friday evening!

Also the Championship game on Sunday at 10:30 AM eastern time will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network!

The Conference Qualifier/GSL 'A' bracket has some built in drama of its own as 9 teams square off in a separate 3 game guarantee bracket.  4 of the teams (FBI, Encompass, Xtreme, and Compound Athletics) already have their berth to the USSSA Major World Series and will be vying for points to improve in the seeding.  And 5 of the teams are fighting to be the highest finishing non-qualified team who will earn the #17 and final berth to the Major.  Should two teams tie for the berth the tie breaker is conference points.  This tournament will be played on the baseball fields behind the Stadium.

And don't forget the Saturday night Nationwide Conference USSSA awards banquet will be livestreamed as well on

Here are all the point scenarios for the weekend!

The chat room here at will also be up all weekend.

Mike's Picks!

The 2015 Conference USSSA Championships will be held this weekend.  Smash It Sports comes in as the regular season champion.  Resmondo will come in fresh off a victory in Detroit where they lapped the field.  On baseball fields in the Florida heat Resmondo has proven to be one of the best teams of all time.  Will Smash It set the tone for the Men’s Major World Series and take home the title or will it be defending champion Resmondo?  Let’s get to the picks and find out.

The top of the bracket has a great game right out of the chute with Precision/Easton taking on Combat/Baugh.  I like Precision here, but Team Combat is still one of the toughest teams in the country.  Precision wins a close one and takes on Smash It late Friday night. Smash It is way too tough on baseball fields, and I expect that Smash It will get past Precision to make it to Saturday’s undefeated game.

The bottom of the bracket has Resmondo taking on “B” World Champion OC Swats.  Swats is a tough team, but I don’t see them having the firepower to deal with Resmondo.  Swats is missing players, and that will play a part as well.  The Backman/Shoppe v. Red’s Astros game could be a shoot out.  Both teams have very talented rosters and are well run.  I  will take Red’s  in an upset in this one.  Unfortunately, I don’t believe the upset will mean much as Resmondo should get to the undefeated game to face Smash It once again.

It’s very difficult to pick against Resmondo in Florida.  Smash It has an amazingly talented roster, and has the power and defense to win.  A lot of times with these two teams it really is a coin flip.  I’m sure this weekend will be no different.  This weekend I have to go with my gut.  My gut says that Helmer and the Smash It guys find a way to win.  If they do this could be the catalyst to a Major title.  Resmondo should get back to the finals, and I fully expect there to be an “if” game between these two giants.  I think Smash It will finish strong and take down the title.

Smash It

The Conference qualifier will also be held this weekend.  Fence Brokers comes in as the top seed in the 9 team event.  However, the real story is the five teams vying for a berth to the Men’s Major World Series.  OI Livingston, Combat/Northwest, 3rd Street, Semper, and Broughton Pharmacy come in looking to get to the “Big Show.”  Who will punch their ticket this weekend?  Let’s find out.

The first game of the weekend will have Combat face off with OI Livingston.  The loser of this game will have a very long road ahead in the three game guarantee format.  OI will get through and take on FBI back to back.  FBI is too tough though, and it sends OI into the loser’s bracket.  Broughton will be taking on Compound Athletic in a rematch from the B World tournament.  Compound needed a walk-off win to get past a talented Broughton team.  Broughtons center fielder Freddie Bynum may make too much of a difference on the baseball field this weekend, however,  I’ll take Broughon to get through to round two.  FBI will prove too much the next day, but Broughton would be in the driver’s seat for the berth.

On the top half of the draw Xtreme/Miken should get past 3rd Street to advance.  Encompass/Eurotech comes in as the second seed in the tournament, but word on the street is it only has 10 guys with its manager on Friday night.  This could be a huge break for Semper.  It’s difficult to pick a game I am involved in.  I’ll just say that Semper should be the favorite in this game.  Either team that gets through will have its hand full with Xtreme.  Xtreme will win the top half of the bracket to face off with FBI on Saturday afternoon.

FBI v. Xtreme will have two teams built around power and hitting facing off.  FBI has proven this season it can hang with anyone in the “A” division.  This weekend should be no different.  FBI wins the Conference Qualifier.  However, that isn’t really the story of this tournament.  It’s all about qualifying for the Major.  Broughton should prove to be too much for the other 4 vying for that berth.

Broughton ***
Compound Athletics

Poll – Resmondo the popular pick of the fans for the Major bracket

Poll – 5 different teams garnered at least 10% of the vote with Compound Athletics leading the way to win this.t
